Legolas was experienced enough to know when not to ask questions, and he dashed to the kitchen, where, luckily, a kettle of water was boiling over the hearth. Within seconds, he returned to the room where the mage was waiting, beads of sweat forming upon his face.

Talthyr nodded a big thanks to the archer, then satdown calmly, and took out a greenbag. He produced some strange materials on his hand. The things looked like herbs, then he pour the contants in the hot water. The archer looked at the mage with a puzzled look, "what are you do..." Talthyr silenced him with a signal, the room was quiet, he closed his eyes as if fell into some kind of trance Several minutes later, the mage opened his eyes, with a big grin on his face, he said to the still standing ranger who held his breath all the time "Sit down my friend!" Then he pours one for himself, "ahhhhhh, good tea" OOC: HAHA, lol, sowwy bro, ok, I be serious this time... |

After almost half an hour of study, plus another couple trips for the ranger to get hot water, Talthyr finally discovered the ability of the bloodstone necklace He said with a grey face, "well, this necklace, as you know, is dedicated to Mask, so it is only natural that its abilities are related to rogues. Only those who walk with the shadow can use it. Bascally, it grants the wielder a tremendous protection against ranged attack..." Talthyr paused for a second, his mind playing back the picture of a dead cleric with an arrow stuck on his chest, then waved away the notion "nevermind about that, the second ability, it can detect darkness." The archer showed an amazed face, with doubts written all over "what??!" "Yep" the mage said with a proud tone "I know, not too much of a use, but hey, now you know where it is dark..." The conversation continued ... In the other room, Lady Liliara was still struggling with the enemies from her past ... [This message has been edited by 250 (edited 10-31-2001).] |

As things seemed to be moving slowly at the inn, and it sounded like everyone would be getting an early start the next morning, Shadow went and fetched his new packhorse and headed to the local stores. Two of them had yet to close for the night, and he was able to secure any supplies he thought they might need. He also stocked up on enough rations to feed all of them for several days. He had no idea how much they would be bringing along, and no reason for them to go hungry. Besides, the gold he used to pay for it was partly theirs anyway.

Legolas was a bit confused. The amulet protected against ranged attacks and could detect darkness? He too clearly remembered the arrow slaying the cleric.
The protection was either one that could be activated manually, in which case it was weird the cleric-assassin hadn't done so in a combat situation, or it would only work under the right circumstances. The darkness detection might be useful, as in one sense of the word it meant they would be able to detect evil, or they could find dark rooms on the other side of a wall. Another interpretation would allow for the detection of black colours, which could be useful to locate assassins in dark clothes or with blades covered in ashes so as not to blink in the light. Finding Drow or Fiends would also belong to the possibilities in that case, as they too were black. But Legolas concluded that the amulet would be of no use for him, at leas at the moment. He took it back from Talthyr to see if he might recognise more of the runes by comparing them to the ones he knew, and searching for partial matches. Tugging it in a pocket under his leather armour, Legolas went into the next room to check on the mage, after which he'd get some sleep. |

Legolas liked silence, but now he found the topic almost too quiet. True, night had descended upon the inn a long time ago, but none of the other partymembers had said anythng about heading for bed. Now from the way he moved, that Shadow character could well be an Elf, but Legolas was sure the others would need their sleep.
Glancing around the topic, he could not discern any new posts. The Elf continued doing what the controlling player said he did in the previous post so he had something to do... |

OOC: Twelve hours? I noticed I couldn't get on the board about three hours ago, so I blamed my computer for that. Then I read a mail sent by JR Jansen stating the same, and that was sent two hours before I read it. Still, I didn't know long it had lasted...
And Ziroc didn't even create the Red board yet... ------------------ The last arrow of Legolas kindled in the air as it flew, and plunged burning into the heart of a great wolf-chieftain.
