Candle Team

After the body was looted and the team regained their composure after the little skirmish with the evil lady-deer-thing, the three surviving teamsters that were to get the candle that Larry requested entered the dark and foul cave.

The initial room was like any other cave that one might expect to find in the land. Stalagtites and stalagmites were about. Mushrooms grew in dark, wet corners. A distant dripping was heard in echo throughout the vast room. A cold steely air blew about.

The two men and the elf were at liberty to explore. To the right, you see the tunnels disappear into darkness and to the left you see a faint light. You expect your luck lies to the right, as it seems the most likely way to lead one further down.

OOC>>>I did not distinctly tell anybody how to find the candle did I? I don't remember. Do you want one of your party members to have a map that I would have given them before seperating or would I have vocally recounted for you a general idea of how to move about here? You three decide and tell me in PM or the other thread.

Roderik

Roderik looked around the cave, the dampness was a good thing, he'd been in a dry limestone cavern before and it's stability was nearly nonexistant, he had barely escaped with his life at that point, but two of his friends, a paladin, and a mage, had been killed in the cave-in only the dwarf and himself had escaped it, mostly due to the dwarf's warning. Taking out his dagger went to a wall and tapped it, listening to see if he could decide how thick the wall was, he then carefully walked around the open room tapping on the walls, listening for a difference in sound.

OOC: is the floor stone, or sand?

In the ensuing silence, the defeated tone of her weary voice seemed to resonate in Larry's mind.

"I... I do not know what more to say, in the face of your perseverance. You know that I only want the best for you... after what I've done..." The contrition constricted her throat before she continued haltingly. "Be careful, Larry... be very careful."

Larry's Vision

"Mistral! I shall make you proud of me! Just watch! I will overcome these obstacles that keep us apart!"

Larry wondered if he were really talking to Mistral or if this was just his own thoughts sounding off with her voice, as the voice of reason. Larry did not know the truth behind that. All he knew was that if he could get out of this cave, he'd be one step closer to freeing Mistral from the grip of death. She would not heed the call when he had tried three years ago with the clerics. Yet she would have no choice but to comply with this new method. He would see her again.

Larry opened his eyes and looked about. Vincent was fighting off the shadows as best he could using the light he had in his outstreched hand. He looked weary and had obviously taken a hit.

Andrion Wilgor 53/60

Andrion walked around the cavern. He quickly noticed that there were only two interesting things in the whole cavern. The tunnels arching off towards the right and the light to the left. Andrion cautiously started walking towards the source of light to examine what it was.

Vincent Pathfinder 91/98

" Are you not well Larry ? did one of these shadow creatures touch you? " Vincent looked around Larry inspecting the area as he dodged another shadow hand coming at him. " You went so quiet on me I thought maybe you had passed out or even dead. Are you ready to charge the exit ? I dont think these things will be happy to let us out so we must be quick. Here hold the gem, I am going to lite a torch. with cat like reflexs Vincent had dislofged an unlite torch that was attached to the side of his back pack and handed Larry the light stone in one smooth motion. Reaching down to his belt he dodged another attack that left another chill on his left arm, almost making him drop the torch. Finding the pocket he was looking for he pulled out what looked to be a small egg, that was colored orange and smelled of sulfer. " Stand back. "he yelled out andthrew the egg to the ground where it exploded in a bright flash. The room flashed a bright red color, almost to the point of blinding. Vincent thrust the torch into the bright flame and the torch caught fire just as the flash faded out." Lets move "he shouted out.

Roderik notices that the ground of the cavern is made of stone. With expert eyes, one can see that this cavern was initially blasted into existance long ago. Something of ancient times formed this room out of pure granite on purpose. However, over hundreds of years, the mountain has been trying to reclaim it's lost mass.

Andrion walks around and eventually heads to the Left to determine the source of the light. He finds after a short search that the cavern stops and turns straight upwards where the sunlight is coming down the chimney-like hole. The hole must lead very high up the mountain, probably near the peak. That must explain the reason that the cavern room is so damp.

Larry

Vincent had found a way out. And it did not requier Larry doing something stupid. Thankful for ihs brilliance in the situation, Larry followed Vince as he led the way with his torch, Larry taking up the rear with the magical light. They were at the entranceway, and as they stood there, Larry called upon the door to open and it did, giving them room enough to sneak through before it closed again, with them safely outside.

They saw Tao and Arcades at the campsite. Larry was more than glad to see more friendly faces instead of trouble out here.

"Arcades, you left when you sensed danger out here. It looks like the two of you fared well."

Larry's heart was racing, pounding against his chest for the fear of what would have happened to them if they had not escaped the shadows. Still, he tried to act smooth as he could, though his voice was still shakey.
He handed the light back to Vincent.

The light was totally uninteresting so after futilely looking around to see if he could find anything strange he walked back to the other two. "That lightsource was just an opening towards some unseeable height. Nothing interesting there. I think we should try the tunnels. Do you two agree?"

She looks up as Larry and Vincent emerge from the hole, her eyes reflecting the firelight as she sips her tea. She raises an eyebrow at Vincent, and silently offers him some of her tea and whispers to Larry, "We had a couple of visitors. In fact, you know them, one of them verra well... "

She refills her cup as she turns back to the fire, her voice carrying softly back to Larry and Vincent..

"One was Morg... he has.. changed, to put it mildly. He left a creature that I sent to the ice caverns instead of killing it. The other you know verra well, as I said. The Shadow Mage showed up to talk with me. I believe he was going to do something to you Larry, until Morg showed up and he disappeared, the coward..."

Her eyes flash as she looks at Arcades, smiling...
