Well here is hoping for positive outcomes.

Im in a real bind myself...while I hate what the current
administration is doing (and congress) the Hidden Health Care
Provisions in the Stimulus Package mean my company will be
swimming in tax payer cash so my job seems secure enough,
but our Execs are still mandating hiring freezes and most likely
eliminating annual employee pay increases....but not the Execs
Pay or bonuses.

Many congratulations to your wife Variol!

My flatmates have decided to start banging on my walls to stop me playing bass. Despite the fact that I am playing quietly, not even using an amp. And I don't complain about them blasting pop music through the flat (I really dislike pop), coming home drunk at 3am and running around screaming and knocking on my door, waking me up. Often when I have a half seven start the next day.

I don't much like the people I live with, but I try and get along with them because I am stuck with them for the rest of the year.

Hate when that happens, DS....

Perhaps you could be just as noisy at half-seven when you're getting ready...

Congratulations to Kim Variol I'm sure she deserves it!

I hope you ride the currant employment storm out Magik, and everyone else on IW, things look as though they are going to get very bad for a while. At my place they have just taken on a load of part time engineers and at the same time announced massive cuts to middle management and office staff. So hopefully my job may be safe for a little while yet.

But as MagiK attested to I'm sure the executive bonuses will be very safe

Thanks for that!
She finds it a little daunting right now. She feels that she's very slow at everything, which I'm sure is true. I takes time of course.
Right now she does her current job in the morning and trains in the PM for the new one.

Evening, all! What's this... nearly a week without a cafe post? Sacrilege, I tell ya...

Back in the realm of good habits, I be... had a temporary DragonWars addiction on FaceBook, but I dumped that this week. Realized that the only way to *really* improve was to either spend a lot of money or get hundreds of new friends to join me... and realized that even if *that* happened, it'd be pretty boring and dull. So... off with its (dragon) head!

Discovered that the headaches I've been having for the past couple of months are probably from my blood pressure going back up (something you young'uns won't learn about for a while, I hope ), so I'm back to exercising regularly, even if I don't feel like it.

Three straight days, marking 10-1/2 miles traversed, hundreds of pounds lifted, and plenty of smelly workout laundry I'll be up again tomorrow, going for four in a row. Doesn't seem like much, but focusing on what's important really does help.

*plops on the sofa near the fireplace, hoarding the Endless M&M Jar*

Hmmm... five of these will do me for a bit... peanut, too... my favorite.

Lessee.... what else... oh, yeah... Valentine's day... scored again. I mean gift-wise, you dweebs. My wife's birthday is smack in between Christmas and V-day, which means I have to try to come up with three good ideas in short order. I got a passing grade on Christmas, with new slippers; got major kudos for her birthday, with a new camera; and made the third play on V-day with a new lunch box. Doesn't sound like much, I know, but she's on a real anti-clutter kick, and that's something that she (a) wanted, (b) didn't really NEED, and (c) was pleasantly surprised to receive.

I told her that she shouldn't expect anything really good for the next five years...

So... what's everyone else up to? How's Kim's afternoon training going, Variol? Anyone do anything fun for valentine's day?

*munches, one at a time... enjoying and savoring every crunch*

Feb 14th was fun! We went to a fundraising V-Day coffee and dessert thing at the church. There was live entertainment throughout the night.

It was in care of the new Bayside camp being built. They're trying to raise 40k, which is the cost of one cabin. They raised over 10k! Pretty good for about 80-90 people.

Kim is learning more about the job everyday. Right now, she's actually upstairs every day for the entire day, instead of just half and half. She will still be needed downstairs at the end-beginning of the month. Then she'll be upstairs permanently.

She has been going to meetings outside the office with the girl that's training her. She also got a key for the office and the building and a laptop she can bring home.

..gotta love the cyber M&M's; 0 calories!
