no armour is sure a downside - except for the monk. even RL monks learn weird techniques that give them resistance to fire (firewalkers) cold (the ones that sit on a mountain, naked, in winter) pain (bed of nails) and so on.
the ones in BG are just scary. they get extra -1 ac every 2 levels. at level 20 they get -1 ac, base, plus dex bonus, plus ring/cloak of protection, plus anything i forgot. and more resistances than i can even remember, plus extra movement, plus immunities to charm, hold etc. compare with a fighter, who gets very few resistances (im not going to strip off all the magical stuff to see if there are any at all, but i severely doubt it), has a base ac of about 6 (fixed) plus dex plus ring/cloak. is not immune to anything at all without help. look, fighters go to great length to seek out items which make you immune to charm or confusion - the monk just _is_ immune.theyr just awesome. and,if they could but disarm traps, theyd be the perfect solo class. |

Quote:
Constitution above 16 will not affect a monk so for the first 9 levels his HP will be as follows: 9*(8+2)=90HP The max level for a monk is 40, so he will gain another +2 HP for every level after 9 to 40 therefore 31*2=62HP. Add this to the previous and you get 152HP. Since you're not using the bracers that give +15HP for monks, the only other item that grants the most HP is the pale green loun stone which grants +10% HP, so 10% of 152 = 15HP giving a grand total of 167 HP!!! Also, you quote 4.5 attacks per round and a monk stops gaining attacks after 4 per round. 4.5 is possible using the gauntlets of extradordinary specialisation but you are using the gauntlets of crushing. I'm not calling you a liar it's just that I've just finished with my monk and the stats are fresh in my mind. Unless of course I've missed something....................... |
