Default Re: Wireless mouses for gaming

I used a G5 when they first came out and swore that I would never use another mouse again, it was brilliant...

Until the stupid cable they used frayed (if you have one, you can probably see how this will happen over time)
I then moved to the G7 in hopes that I would finally have a good gaming mouse that was wireless. and for a while, it really was.

However, i noticed some really odd things with it (and a quick Google at the time showed I wasn't the only one with issues) sometimes the mouse would just move erratically or "laggy" whenever i was using it.
Being an IT man i decided I could figure the issue out and after a lot of stupid troubleshooting, I figured out that it was my laptop causing the issue!
Whenever my laptop was on the wireless, it would kill the mouse, and it wasn't until Logitech had the smart idea to let the user change channels that I could get it sorted.... for a while..(I'm thinking the neighbours were on the same channel and there was too much interferance) but who knows, all I know is that it sits in my cupboard with my millions of other bits never to be used again, I must have too much wireless stuff in my house as it just won't work there (does anywhere else, or when I turn some things off) but I like having all my consoles connected, my speakers on, myself and my housemates also have at least 2 machines going each at a time on wireless and so on.

Anyways, i'm ranting, but I thought I would mention that it seems to be very sucseptable to wireless interferance, which for a mouse, isn't good.

After my G5 died I was heartbroken, and decided to give something else a try, which ended up being the Microsoft Sidewinder (yes i'm a Microsoft fan, but it's a good quality mouse.. really) and I love it. Not only that but I scored an X6 Sidewinder keyboard too and couldn't be happier...

Yes, I had the original G15 Keyboard... guess what happened... It broke.

I love logitech gear, but the Microsoft stuff is kicking ass at the momment, and the X8 is looking good too.

So all in all, in the end it's personal preference, the G7 has pretty decent battery life, two batteries and a cool carrying case. I'd go by price and comfort if quality and precision is not your ultimate goal.

I know it's a bit off topic, but I do find that the keys on any Logitech keyboard I use, sometimes still. This MX3200 set I have retailed at $140. I played waaaay less, of course, but the MS Multimedia board I have on my work PC has much nicer keys at a far lower price.

Again though, my mouse is really fine, but I don't think I have a situation where I need a "fast" mouse; ..cat would eat it anyway.
