Cheese that sometimes works (worked for me.)
1) As soon as you are teleported to him, have everyone except for one character, the one with the most hit points, run down a branch, as far away as possible. 2) Have the other character wear the cloak of mirroring. Now stand around, doing nothing. Eventually he will use up all his spells, to no avail. Then he begins casting unlimited magic missiles at you, which get reflected back at him. There really should be some way to counter that.
