Psst! As any Zelda/FF veteran knows, the best items cannot be found in stores. (Or, at least, stores known to the rest of the community.)

*hijacks thread*

Has anyone ever given a character proficiency points in spears? There are some kickass spears in SoA/ToB, even without Item Upgrade installed. You can get a +3 spear before Chapter 4, in fact. More people should use spears!

I never use spears for my protagonist, but Jaheira seems to be spearfighting in my games all the time. Usually with the Spear of the Unicorn.

When Jaheira uses the Impaler, she redefines the meaning of being a pain in the a$$.

Actually in BG2 a lot of the best items can be found in stores (two of the best belts for example)

not to belittle the wonders of the almighty spear, but aren't a lot of creatures immune to peircing damage? or maybe just highly resistant? I remember having some enchanted spear or another with Valygar. I tried to take out a golem and it didnt' to whoop-de-squat.

that's because you won't do whoop-de-squat to a Clay Golem with anything else than blunt weaponry (Hammers, Maces, Clubs,...)
So the same way you blame it on the spear you could blame it on a longsword or an axe because they also won't do whoop-de-squat to a Clay Golem

I think the only reason you replied to this post, was so that you too could enjoy the fun that is typing whoop-de-squat.

whoop-deqs
whoopsd-e
whoop-de-squat!
That was fun

As you don't use slings that often it makes the finding of any other sling utterly pointless.
urm...its the most powerful sling in the game period...

using the no pause options at the walls at saradush, with aerie and a belt of strength, the sling of everard completely edges out all other slings for raw damage...

unlike the game description, all slings add strength bonus if you put a bullet in your sling...so since even if you put a bullet in your sling, the ghost bullet affect adds to the damage of a strike, by my test the sling of everard beats out every other sling in the game...try it with +4 sling bullets, you will see..

There is a sling in ToB which is just like the sling of Everard but can do some extra stuff This is what I meant.
