You only need money on the first chapters,at chapter 5-6 you have got better items than any mercant sell [img]smile.gif[/img] .

You still have high level scrolls and potions to invest in. Time Stop doesn't come cheap.

But if you are playing through ToB the random treasure you find off mages is usually timestop, chain contingency, etc. for me.

Sure, you find all sorts of candy in ToB. However, it's nice to have the money to buy time stop, etc. from Ribald, rather than waiting until ToB. Not that 10,000 gold here or there is an issue for the average party near the end of SoA.
