I'm probably going to muck this up (again) .. BUT AFAIK

The ring near the FAI is in the unpatched version of BG1.
The ring disappears with the first BG1 patch
The ring returns with TotSC installed and patched.

I have no clue whether the unpatched version of TotSC has the ring or not.

I am playing with Tales 5512 patched (most recent Bioware patch) and the RoW outside FAI is there.

Is that the last official totsc patch, or one of the direct x patches OR one of the newer beta patches? I've lost track of the version numbers.

Move the cursor around very slowly and carefully at the base of the blue-ish pine tree. The ring is easy to miss--it's only a few pixels.

It's there! We're fully patched, expanded and modded...and Septfox found the silly ring last night!!! He said it was *really* hard though, and he had the coordinates to work with! (We've never been able to get it before 'cause the first thing I do when I load a newly bought game is patch it with the latest before ever playing...)

TOSC Canada and US patch

(provided you're in the U.S. or Canada of course)

and

TOSC DirectX 8 English patch

if you're going to MP with other players online--you will want dx8.0 with that, btw.
