When UO came out, I was panting in line to be a beta tester, along with many thousands. UO got shot out the door half baked, to say the least. It was so extremely buggy, it was hard to imagine, but worse than that was the imbalances in the game. After 3 years of UO, I was still feeling like a beta tester - they never seemed to get it right, or deliver on promises. (But the interaction with other people was great.) It would have been far far better to fix the major bugs first.
Yeah, Origin also released Ultima 9 the same way, and Origins Forum got so many pissed off messages they CLOSED it. And then 'Lord Prissy' got fired, and Origin was History.

I only Liked Ultima 7, and 7.5. And MOST of all, Ultima Underworld series--although Origin didn't make it, Looking Glass did, just under the 'Ultima' name.

Man, I can't believe that the release was put off by at least 6 months from the last "unofficial" release date! Damn!

Bioware contradicts the march 2002 release date.
Just surf to http://nwvault.ign.com/ and scroll down a bit to the news from "Tuesday, May 29, 2001".
It's an official comment to said release date from Derek French, assistant producer at Bioware.

So there is still hope

That's a bit of a bummer, eh? But I would rather they got it RIGHT the first time rather than rushing to release a flawed product. It IS a pretty revolutionary game, after all.

Also, like others have said, it will give me time to upgrade my PII 366mhz laptop to something which has a bit more grunt.

I sure hope so, but the release date on EBGAMES.COM says the following:

Neverwinter Nights
(Pre-Order, Ships On 03/15/2002)
Price: $49.99
Category: PC Games
ESRB Rating: Rating Pending

And inside info says Winter 2001. So It will either Ship during Xmas season or March.. I HOPE Xmas!!!!! THAT alone would be enough!

Delayed till March? NOOOO!!!! They wouldn't, they couldn't, but they did! I was waiting so long for this game, and now I have to wait longer? It isn't fair! Well at least they'll fix some of the bugs in the game. No numerous patches. Maybe they can do something about the Fatal Exceptions I keep getting. The game will be worth the wait!!!

The game will be out when its out people. Remember, patience is a virtue. Anyhoot I would want them to have all the FR rules in there, including the regional feats, the new prestidge classes and if they are waiting that long for a release date they should include the epic levels rules package for when players will eventually get above 20th level. I am sorry to hear Prissy got fired though. She was a good person. It wassn't her fault that the EA/Origin released the game early. However I am looking forward to Richard Garriot's new project at his new company.
