One thing more to try is to have everyody that's pounding on him chug the most powerful Strength potions you've got (and then cast DUHM, if applicable), as those extra points of damage can indeed turn the tide against high Regeneration rates.

Drink potions of Cloud Giant Strength (23 strength), which can be purchased from the Sorcerour Sundries IIRC. I think there's a Potion of Storm Giant Strength (24 strength) in the game, but I can't recall where it is from the top of my head. Maybe it's not even in the game, and just in BG2.
