Yeah hes an alright mage but the only thing is his school of magic NECROMANCER can't cast FIREBALLS, LIGHTNING BOLTS or MAGIC MISSILES but I suppose then it would be a little bit too easy if you had an NPC early in the game which could do this...there would be no challenge.

...Can't necromancers not cast Illusionary magic? I had always thought that Necromancers were one of the better mage classes, since I don't use Illusions a lot... maybe I'm wrong, so I think I'll stop talking now.

sorry your right I had him mixed up with Xvar I think....(Xvar and Montaron actually made it more interesting cause they were evil and Xvar says some funny lines as well) until they got slain by Jaheira and Khalid.
He just can't scribe them into his spell book but what he can do is read it off the scroll once so just keep em stocked up if ya want to cast heaps of area effects for party skirmishes.
