Heya - wanted to say one reply was wrong, Piety, not Int, helps you learn skills faster. What I now do is see how many "multiples of 3" I am away from 100 in the 2 stats I want to max out and then only if I'm not right on a multiple of 3 will I dump some points to other stats; Piety is a good choice for this. So for example, if your Str for your fighter was at a 72 and you leveled, just make it a 73 as you won't get to 100 any faster with more points (it'll take 9 more levels or 9 multiples of 3). Also there is a fountain in Trynton that gives the whole party +5 int, so try to get there when your casters are at around 95 int or below so as not to waste points to your int stat.
What my current party is, after 2 prior attempts: Dwarf Fighter, like the damage resistance, he's in front Dracon Valkyrie, extra priest skill and polearms for one flank spot Mook Ranger, love the auto-scout and ranged kills, middle spot Human Psionic, the ultimate in crowd control magic, in back Faerie Mage, the ultimate in group damage spells, in back Elf Bishop, focusing on alchemy and divinity, also in back The bishop in my party (or a pure alchemist too, just think priest and bishop overlap alot and a bishop dedicated to both isn't murder to develop) is the party's money maker with the ability to mix up expensive potions. Note I don't take a locks type char, I take myles for that and will drop him once I can handle locks well enough with magic - IMHO I think all the locks type chars (ninja, bard, rogue, gadg) are much weaker/less versatile than taking an extra pure caster, which is why I have 3. RPCs: Myles for locks; he fights pretty well too with dual weapons (gave him the diamond epee and a poignard, I don't personally like the bloodlust sword because it's cursed - I also have him dual throwing daggers and he uses things like the acid bombs, stix, etc as his artifacts and throwing skills are good) - eventually to be replaced by the monk when my knock-knock is good enough; will also briefly be swapped with the gadgeteer in trynton who i need to make me some triple shot crossbows which will make the ranger a death machine (also make him go through ammo soooo fast, but that's what it's for ![]() Vi - more priest skills and the other flank spot in the formation. This party really messes up opponents from a distsnce and makes it very easy on the melee characters to go and mop up what's left. They rarely take damage - mostly charge up and attack insane/sleeping/paralyzed/webbed/irritated/etc foes, with an occasional resistant one or two trickling up to them to be cut to ribbons ![]() Also I don't go with a pure priest; think the Bishop covers it pretty well and also has more offensive abilities with alchemy (to say nothing of $$$). And I think with the formation considerations, Valks are great and that gives you 2 priest types to make up for not having a pure one. Also pure priests to me are just too weak offensively - the best defense is a good offense in this game. Also I reccomend emphasizing speed for the priest in your party, helps alot to be able to have him heal first in a round if someone really is torn up.

Hi, thnx for all the help, I don't think I'll ever get past arnika, I'm destined to try out all the different classes and races. Think I need at least 10 different chrs. in my party to try out all the types I'd like to test. Well well multiple parties. I'll try the faery ninja, the mook ranger, the bishop and .......
I'l be stuck with this game for an even longe time than with baldurs gate 1 I guess.
