I'm soloing with a swashbuckler on insane right now...SoA was a breeze, but I've run into some problems in ToA. ToA is much more combat-oriented than SoA.

Helpful hints (I hope)- never forget that you are a thief and not a fighter. Sneak past the opposition wherever and whenever possible. Don't worry about XPs: thief classes get truckloads of XPs from disarming traps and unlocking locks, plus they level up with obscene speed. USE those thief skills: set traps. Hide. Pickpocket. Backstab. Or...hide in shadows, walk up to the opposition and start pounding em. Have it/them chase you into a minefield of traps. You ain't playing no paladin - hit and run. Sniper the opposition with projectiles whenever and wherever possible. Also: potions are a wonderful thing for thieves.

Regarding Kangaxx:

~get the Flame Tongue sword --or Namarra...any weapon with +4 damage can take down Kangaxx-- read a scroll of protection from undead (drink a speed potion as well) and you can make that demi-lich scumbag cry for his mommy.

Handy tip for solo Assassins,

Stealth, Poison Weapon, Snipe( or backstab), Run Away, Stealth, Snipe, Run Away, etc... ...

I have a solo Assassin in Chapter 3, currently level 30. Gotta love x7 backstab modifiers.

Oil of Speed is very useful in the beginning until you get the Boots of Speed. The reason for speed is so that you can run out of sight and Stealth.

Just got the boots of speed from that Five Flagons quest and it is making my assassin MUCH more powerful. If you get around and a corner and HiS, the enemy forgets to keep looking for you. Traps still suck though.

I am only at x5 BS, when does it go to x7?

I forgot, but I know it is before level 20 if I recall correctly. Oh, and do not neglect Move Silently. Your chance to go Stealth is based on the average of Hide in Shadows and Move Silently.

Traps are very potent and very handy in getting rid of tough enemies. You can simply lay several of them and lead the enemy into them.

When I created my solo Assassin, I pumped everything into Lockpick and Detect/Disarm Traps. Once I attained 90% in both of them, I started pumping into Move Silently and Hide in Shadows until they both reached 100%. I then boosted Traps to 100%, followed by Lockpick and Detect/Disarm Traps.

Detect illusion is a great skill to have when fighting mages, especially if ur soloing. However, u should always put points in the neccisary skills first. Its an added bonus to have this skill, but its not a neccesity.
The good thing is, it dispells ALL illusions. Invisibility, simulacrum, project image, mislead, etc. are all dispelled.
Its a very under-rated skill.
