A few newbie-ish questions - Page 2

For shield skill for me it depends on the charcter. If they have either stealth or reflextion, then the plus AC won't be missed so much, but if they don't I will get a shield for my character. So for example my fighter uses usually a one-hnded weapon with a shield, but my rogue uses dual stilettos or thieve's daggers.

I agree with dplax. However, I only use shield in the early parts of wiz8. Why? Because a Fighter only starts with a weapon (sword or axe) and a shield. As soon as I find a dagger (or secondary weapon of some sorts) I "toss" the shield away.

My parties are based on offense and not defense. I also mold my group characters into a physical damage party. I choose weapons which will do most pain/damage. In fact, I would rather have a great weapon over great magic. Heck, even my spell casters have good weapons.

It is really based on your outlook of the game. If you are more defense or magical (bishop, mage, bard), go for the shield skill. But if you crave raw power (fighters, rangers, rogues) and the best dual weapon combo in the game (you'll find out... maybe) go for the awesome dual weapon skill.
