Let's talk

I myself will, of course, not limit myself entirely to playing the badguys. This to avoid unrealistic amounts of suspicion on the part of the paladin and his party when dealing with my characters (for those rare few who may be wondering, no this has nothing to do with the Julano experience. Okay, maybe a little bit...), and to keep you on your toes.
I'm RPing people rather than stereotypes as much as possible, which means cults will have a hierarchy, double agendas may well exist, badguys try not to show their evil too much and depending on the time of day the guards on duty will be friendlier or more hostile.

Already two paladins? But as one of them's a healer, I'll be one anyway.

Name: Sir Aldyne
Race: Aasimar (human sub-class, half celestial (+2 to Cha and Wis))
Class: Cavalier (Paladin-kit)
Alignment: Lawful Good
Ability scores: 17 Str, 11 Dex, 16 Con, 10 Int, 14 Wis, 17 Cha (a total of 85. ok?)

Appearence: Sir Aldyne has short, dark hair, with a matching very short beard (sort of like Aragorn's in LotR). He stands 6 feet over the ground, is wide-shouldered, and is generally muscular built. His face is friendly, but it also reads of wisdom and much experience. As Aldyne is in the middle of his thirties, his face doesn't look old, however. Sir Aldyne usually wears a red and grey tunic under his armor, and his breeches and pants have the same colors. On his back, he carries his crossbow and quiver, and in his belt his long sword is sheathed. He always carries his medium-sized shield on his left arm, so that he can easily draw and use his sword with the right hand.

History: Sir Aldyne grew up with his parents in one of the land's largest cities, and he is therefore used to big crowds. He have also always had a close connection to the countryside of the land as well. His father was an important man in the government, therefore, Aldyne has always been familiar with politics, even though he have never liked them. When he was fifteen years old, his father was assassinated by a man sent from one of his rivals. At that time, Aldyne swore to avenge his father, and started studying sword-fighting. His teacher, a previous friend of his father, and former knight of the Order, recognized Aldyne's potential, and saw that much good lived in this boy. He was therefore at the age of seventeen taken as a squire in the Order. During his four years as a squire, the Order managed to stag Aldyne's temper, and made him promise that he would not avenge his father by killing the assassin. At the age of 21, he was taken as a knight in the Order. In the years after that, he had many missions for the order, and became more and more skilled. After some years as a knight, he saw to it that his father's killer was sentenced to die by hanging for what he had done.

IC:

Sir Aldyne shrugged, and went outside. His commander, a higher-ranking in the Radiant Heart, had told him to follow another knight of the Order, Sir Goulum, and to offer him his assistance in the mission Sir Goulum was assigned to. Apperantly, they were to investigate a cult who had their headquarter up in the mountains to the west. "Probably something of importance, since they have decided to send more than one knight fom the Order up there," he thought.
Aldyne was used to making his way through large crowds, so he didn't have a hard time following Sir Goulum. He had went into a tavern. "Heh. Atleast he has a good taste."
He went inside, and made his way to the counter, where Sir Goulum was sitting. Next to him was another fellow knight. "Atleast I know who that is," Aldyne thought, as he had previously been on a mission together with Sir Jorlon.
"Hail, my fellow knights," Sir Aldyne said, smiling at the two paladins. "I am Sir Aldyne, that would be just Aldyne to you. I was told by Sir Kan that I was to aid you in a mission. He also made it clear that you were the leader, and I was to follow your command. And that I intend to do."
Aldyne looked at the two knights in turn, before he started speaking again. "Now tell me, what sort of mission might this be, that requires atleast three knights from the Order? I was only told that we were to investigate a cult up in the mountains, but surely one knight could do that alone."

"Yes, I suppose that I should fill you in. From what Sir Kan has told me, this cult has grown to massive proportions. Their intent: to summon one of the most deadly, evil, most vicious beings from the planes. They will create an army of them to overrun the lands." Sir Goulum told the other two paladins, as the listened intently. "We may need more than just us 3 to infiltrate the cult, so Sir Kan has allowed us to let people outside of the Radiant Heart to join us."
While the others thought about Sir Goulums description of their mission, he went to get them some drinks.

"Loren? Loren. LOREN! GET UP!"
Verloren was shocked out of her warm and peacful sleep when her half brother Joel shook her shoulder roughly. She sat up abrubtly and reeled back in pain as their foreheads connected with a clunk.
"Joel!" she growled while scrubbing sleep out of her eyes, "What in bloody hell do you want?" she glared bleerily up at him.
"Oy,", Joel was cradling the bump on his head, "Your squire friend from the temple is here. Says it's important, so get dressed will ya?" he left with a sly grin on his face.

Grumbling to herself Verloren yawned loudly and kicked her covers off, pulling off her silk sleeping shift with a quick move. She stood, stretched, then looted through her drawers until she found a fresh pair of dark blue leather breeches and a crimson shirt. Pulling it all on hastily, she stuffed her feet into her turned-down boots and walked slowly down stairs to see her friend Roden sitting at the table, idly chewing a piece of bread. The young squire flashed a grin at her as Verloren sat down and snatched the bread from him,
"So, what are you doing here at this ungodly hour?
The handsome Roden chuckled at her, "Well, on any other occasion it would be to see your beautiful face with your hair all mussed like it is, but today I came to give you an assigment from the Radiant Heart. You had best get all your gear together, cause they need you for a campaign or somewhat." He shrugged in indifference.
"Wonderful," Verloren grummped when she finished her bread. Roden stood when she did.
"I would gladly accomany you, Loren, but I'm needed back soon. See you around." He leaned forward and kissed her cheek before leaving.
Blushing a furious red, Verloren clambered back to her room and threw open the chest at the foot of her bed. Her sword belt and breastlate lay atop a soft cotton pillow. Sighing, she buckled on her sword belt and slipped into her light yet sturdy armour. She searched around for a quill and wrote a hasty note to leave at home:
~Mother, Father, the Radiant Heart has called upon me once again to aid them in some campaign. I'll likely be gone for a long while. See you soon.
Love always, Verloren~

Nodding to herself in satisfaction, Verloren grabbed her pack and stuffed her shift and several pairs of breeches and shirts, both long and short sleeved into it, plus her large water skin. Locating her ivory comb, she ran it briskly though her chest length hair before adding it to her pack as well. She dropped her note on the table as she left the house and made her way for the temple.

After 20 minutes of winding through the bustling streets, Verloren caught sight of the temple, and broke into a jog, slipping through the door and shutting it softly behind her. Pursing her lips, she looked around until she saw the familiar face of Sir Kan,
"Why hello," she said with a cheery grin, "Squire Roden told me I'm to assist some paladins in a mission of some sort. Could you point me in their direction? I don't see them here."

All he could give her was that this Sir Goulum had gone to a tavern to celebrate his assigment. Wondering if all paladins drank before going on a mission to find crazed cultists, she poked around the taverns until at the third one she noticed 3 paladins sitting and having themselves a drink. One of them matched the description of Sir Goulum. As shemade her way over to them, she could feel the odd looks sent at her. Well, it wan't every day you saw a lass with two swords strapped to her waist. Verloren stopped in front of the table and smiled down at the men,
"Why hello there. I'm Verloren Esgaroth, one of the non-Radiant Heart members who works for the Radiant Heart," she winked and turned to Sir Goulum, "And you are Sir Goulum, yes? Sir Kan sent me to join you on this mission to the mountains."

I've had to retype this so many times because of stupid internet...*mutters*-

Verloren is a stunning red haired, blue eyed, pale Elven beauty, with the disposition of a particulary rowdy man. Her elven mother died not long after giving birth to her, so the elves of her city gave her to her father for caretaking. Her father, a well known adventurer, retired after recieving her, and married a human cleric, who was constantly away for her duties. Growing up with a retired warrior and a 18 year old half-brother, Verloren took on more of the undesirable traits for a woman. After hearing her father tell his stories of glory, she decided to look for some herself by becoming a Gladiator. Her elven grace made her deadly in the pits, and she learned quickly how to survive in a harsh world. When she recently turned 25, her father purchased bought her a new +1 long sword and a +1 short sword, with a black leather belt to go with them. Her brother somehow came across a +1 breast plate with a 10% resist to poison. Much to her dismay, her father was personal friends with the Commander of the Radiant Heart, and decided her fighting skills would be worth more for a cause such as theirs.

Sir Goulum looked behind him, and saw Verloren. He couldn't help, but to stare. Moments later, he snapped out of it, and introduced himself.
"Hi...uh...I'm Sir Goulum, and these are Sir's Aldyn and Jorlon. I was just going over our mission with them..." Sir Goulum stammered. "Uhm....would you like a drink?"

Jorlon-He signals Sir Aldyne to come over to the bar. "Hello Aldyne, haven't seen you since we were stationed back in Calimport. Ah, it was great serving there, but times go on, and now look where we are." He sighs and and asks the bartender for a drink. "Anyways, what do you know about the creature they are summoning. More specifically, do you know if it is undead or demonic? But for the most part, it looks like a dangerous task." Jorlon gets up from his seat and throws three silvers to the bartender as pay. "I've got to get going. Some business to attend. I'll meet you at Shackshire Square at sundown. Oh and I almost forgot." Jorlon quickly pulled a package out of his pocket. He tears it open, and pulls out 10 sheets of aged paper that is the color of tinted brown. "Champion Paladin gave this to me. Its for supplies. 10 letters of credit, he suggests giving 1 to every member of this expedition. It allows us to buy 500 gold worth of equipment." Jorlon hands nine of them to Sir Goulum, and takes one for himself and heads out the door.

After hearing out Goulum's tale, Aldyne sighed, and shook his head. "Another of these misinformed cults." Aldyne spat out the last word. He had had bad experiences with many evil cults in his years, and he had never liked those missions. "So, what are we to do when we find their hideout? Capture them and take them back to the Order?"
Again shaking his head, he turned to Jorlon. He had almost forgotten his mission in Calimport, but now that Jorlon mentioned it, the memories came flowing back. He simply nodded at the other paladin as a reply, but he now had a little smile on his face.
As the bartender offered him a glass of wine, Aldyne politely refused to take it. He did not like to drink alcohol such a short time before going on a mission. Instead, he handed a couple of silver coins to the man behind the counter, and asked him to bring him some bread.

Suddenly, a woman entered the tavern, and made her way over to the table with the three knights. Aldyne examined her up and down with his eyes, making it clear to himself that she was definetly a warrior by profession. Her swords and armor reassured the paladin of that. Looking at her face, he quickly came to the conclusion that this was no human. "Half elven," he thought, and smiled.
As she introduced herself, Aldyne found it politely to do the same. He stood up, carefully bowed, and said, "Greetings, my lady. I am Sir Aldyne. Well, Aldyne, that is, if you are to join our mission." Smiling again, he sat down, and waited for Goulum to answer Jorlon's question.

Verloren giggled as the paladin went a little slack jawed at the sight of her, then made a little bow to both of them,
"A drink would be wonderful, Sir Goulum," she sat herself down in the seat the other paladin had left, "Nice to meet you, Aldyne." Verloren winked at him and rested her chin on a hand until Sir Goulum came back.
"So,"she said, looking to both of them, "All I got from Sir Kan was that you are traveling to some mountains to deal with some cultists. Now, what exactly are these cultists worshipping, and which mountains are we going to? How many of us will there be?" she accepted the drink from Sir Goulum and directed a smile of thanks at him before taking a healthy swig from it.

"We're set to go to the Hang-Hui Mountains. And as for the cult, they are set on summoning a vicious being from the planes. A rare demonic/elemental creature that is bent on destruction. As for the number of us, there are us 4 so far, but if we find others that will join us, we are allowed to let them join as well." Sir Goulum told Verloren. He then rememered the letters of Credit Sir Jorlon had given him.
"Here," Sir Goulum said, as he handed a letter to Verloren and Sir Aldyne. "Sir Jorlon gave these to us before he left. It gives us 500 gold worth of equipment, for the expedition. Its getting onto sundown...we should meet Sir Jorlon soon."
