Are you using the pc version? then you ought to check it out on TES : editor. first double click the program, then on check out file and click data file, load up Morrowind.esm. On the armor section check out the name of the helm. when you found it double click the name and jot down the ID.

enter your game and press ~ button. type player->additem helm_id "1" and then press enter.

Have you noticed that when you "speak" to one of the daedric gods, they actually speak through your characters mouth, just like you're possessed or something.
Looks pretty funny.

It's kinda difficult, yes. But have you tried moving the head of your char? audio is directional, and moving your char you might get a better result.

I have no problem hearing what they say. Maybe there's a difference in the audio whether your in 1st or 3rd person.

SPOILER

You actually killed the wrong oryen. You are not supposed to kill the one in vivec. The one you are supposed to kill is near the town of Gnaar Mok, they are out south of town near a big dead netch, THAT is the one you are supposed to kill

no there is only one oreyn, hence the title of being the last of the oreyns. You go to vivec to talk to anybody about him, then they send you to gnar mok to find him, talk to someone there who sends you south of town to where he and his two bodyguards are.
