what is a good party to start out with - Page 2

The best party to start out with? I think it's just the best thing then to go along with whoever you come across, so you can see for yourself which good and bad features each npc has for yourself. Much more satisfactory than to go for the "perfect" party if you ask me, especially because there is no such thing as a perfect party. The only perfect party to you is one you've compiled yourself.

this is my first post but i felt i had to reply, this guy playing through bg2 first time and wants the rockin' party. know this- edwin is the only dedicated mage npc. and therefore the ONLY shot you have at high-level spells in a timely fashion in bg2 w/o playing a dedicated mage yourself.
i thought jaheira was top notch through the first 3/5ths but started really lagging behind my party later, had to leave her at the altar.
Viconia is the only dedicated cleric npc and some of her high-level spells are wicked combat spells, but same deal edwin and viconia MUCH quicker access to high level spells than all the other *dual*-classed npcs.
Dont overlook Keldorn he's the only paladin npc and therefore your only shot at weilding probably the baddest sword in the game HOLY AVENGER +5 i thought Anomen should have qualified TO weild the avengerafter passing knighthood trials, but alas
