If we accept what is said above then I guess we'll also have to accept that anyone born in West Berlin after 1947 never saw a Soviet Tank, and that they didn't live under the fear of that government.

An the subject of your comment - the fact that he doesn't quote a town or place - don't that make it even less likely he ever saw any? I mean if you or I was asked to substantiate something like that we would be asked for details. Unless of course, Arnie is going to fall back on the "Carmen Lawrence" defence .

Well not being gifted with an idetic memory, I have seen many things in my life, that I have no idea where they were. I suppose some people are child prodigys and remember every little detail...unfortunately I was not one of them...perhaps Arnold wasn't so blessed either.....were you?

Perhaps he is just that, but why are some so willing to accept that he is a liar because of what someone, who doesn't know him, says of his recollections? Because those recollections were shared at the RNC he has to be lying?

What of those who lived in West Berlin and West Germany? Are we also ready to call anyone who lived in those post war Allied Zones liars if they claim to have seen Soviet tanks or lived in fear of that puppet government in the East?

Well, the article doesn't state where in Austria he saw the tanks.

As for the Berlin thing, it wouldn't be too difficult for someone living in West Berlin to see a Soviet tank, considering half of Berlin where under Soviet command.

Finally, Liberals in Europe ( and Australia as well, I presume) are very different from Liberals in the US.

I understand, and honestly I don't know one way or the other, but the evidence seems pretty thin.

And I was just throwing out that he hadn't said where in Austria he was. I know as a child I whent where my parents took me...and untill I was older I rarely knew where I was...nor did I really care. As long as there were other kids to play with, I was happy.

So you are saying that he may not be lying. And of course, he may be lying. In fact, the truth is that neither possibility has the potential for credidibility over the other.

Guess we will never know then.
