Hi Moni!

I mentioned the artifact destruction mostly as reaction to the news today (ABC)where it was reported that millions of dollars worth of antiquities were destroyed in museums in Iraq. It really was a shame.

Did they show them destroyed? I have only heard they were stolen, which is why I ask. Thanks Mark!

What they couldn't steal or didn't appear to have monetary value was destroyed or vandalised - I saw the pictures. The Director of the museum was in tears.

Very sad.

Luvian here is the honest truth

Some people won't be happy NO matter what. They are dead set against it for various reasons.

Had we went in with a large policing force and stopped it I assure you even more whining would have happened. We let it go and in hopes some of it will burn out and more whining goes on. Nothing will satisfy some people because they are LOOKING for thing's to complain about.

That is just the bottom line. It is see through.

The coalition must have had some idea that this might happen, shouldn't they?

You nailed it on the head Mark.

Also, although a smaller task force has been sufficient in the military conflict in Iraq, a larger force is what was actually required considering the lack of civil leadership and humanitarian impact in Iraq. This should have been planned and prepared before the war began but my guess is we were in a hurry to get it over with before the election year.

Regardless of who should be held accountable in this mess, It goes without saying we need civil stability sooner in Iraq than later.

Why is it, then, that after every big sport event here in America, there is usually looting? I live in Montreal, and the last the Canadiens de Montreal won the cup, there was lots of pillaging and looting, and even the cops had trouble stoping them.

If people go crazy when their favorite hockey team win, then why can't we expect people to go crazy when they finally get freed?
It's called "animalistic". . Now, in Iraq, hell, I would loot all the palaces too, that is where all THE PEOPLES money went! GRRR.. But I've seen Iraqi -vs- Iraqi looting house to house, and THAT is wrong.

Who cares who's fault it is, lets get some law in effect.

Saw that. Such loss. all of these artifacts.. many from Babylon . I hope their rage calms, and they think before they burn and trash things.

That's odd...I mean...Luvian is a guy....so what's she to worry about?

In teasing with my wife, a topic like this actually came up, and she said she would not care, just as long as it was not a girl that was prettier than she...then she would know that it was not her looks that made me leave her...or something like that.

Why am I telling you this?

Well as someone may have mentioned earlier, the Coalition has enough on its hands with fighting a war, and making sure suicidals don't pop to police around. Theres only so much they can do, so don't blame them, they're doing their best at multitasking.
