Yes this is a bit confusing but I´ve decided to interpret this as you have to push the power button after exitting windows. This you can change in the windows registry. Find this key:
Quote:
System Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
Value Name: PowerdownAfterShutdown
Data Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
Value Data: (0 = default, 1 = power down)
If it in the registry says:
PowerdownAfterShutdown REG_SZ "0", there´ll be no automatic shutdown. Change the "0" to "1" keeping the quotations of course will enable automatic shutdown. Your BIOS must support automatic shutdown for this to work. This "fix" also work on win2000 if someone want to try that on that OS.

Willow, people who know stuff about the registry scare me.

Kind of like Cold War CIA or KGB secret information. That stuff isn't meant for us mortals to know, and if someone finds out we know it they might "wack" us to keep us quiet...lol.

***or in my case, by editing the registry, I might wack myself***

It´s not me Ronn I promise!! The hubby made me learn it! He started rambling about it when he´d out together my computer and the only way to make him stop was to listen... LOL! I usually leave the registry alone, unless if I´ve made a silly move and deleted a program without uninstalling it. I did this setting on my own computer once, that´s why I remember it. But IIRC "1" is now default...

If the Reistry Hack doesn't work, there is a posibility that either your case, or your mother board doesn't support automatic shutdown. Check the docs for those. Or more likely they do, but a jumper on your MoBo isn't set right.
