The other is to get the Melodic Armor, the best armor for bards until you can obtain the Bladesinger armor.

I know this is slightly off topic but what are bards like? I'm thinking of taking Haer'dalis with me in my current game but have never taken a bard with me in BG 1 or so far in SOA so is he a good character?

I just checked, Dundee, and though you were right about almost everything, you DO need to get past a lich to get Daystar.
As for bards' pickpocketing skills... Let's just say that I put a LOT of pickpocketing points (Maxed out as a matter of fact) in Jan, gave him all the accessories, and even Potions of Master Thievery.. But I have never succeeded in shoplifting. In BG1, however, it was a piece of cake.

You probably passed 200 points.
When you do it, AFAIK, the game 'wraps' it - 250 becomes 50, 230 becomes 30, and so on. But with 190 Pickpocketing, i never fail .

And Alson, it's actually safe to pass 200--I think 250 or 255 is the point where you reach wraparound. I've pickpocketed with 240, no problems.

But Illumina is right Dundee, you'll definitely have to fight a lich for it. You're probably mixing the Daystar up with Celestial Fury, no? [ 07-15-2002, 06:45 PM: Message edited by: Grojlach ]

NOW HEAR THIS!!!
No, Dundee was NOT wrong. The first misunderstanding was when FelixJaeger thought I was giving directions to the Daystar Sword--I was not, I was giving directions to the [Five Flagons / Haer'Dalis / Planar Prison] quests. Dundee said you need to fight a Lich to get the Daystar -- He was right. Dundee said you DONT'T need to fight a Lich in the Five Flagons quests -- he was right. The part where he said "you do not fight a Lich at all, but a motley crew of six," he was talking about the first fight in the Planar Prison. Although Dundee does lose points in this thread for forgetting the Melodic Chain and for suggesting the agressive Pickpocketing of Wands. ![]()

![]() Kudos to you and Alson though. I forgot about the Melodic Chain and the fact that it is the Bard's stronghold quest. Regarding wands though, you still use them in ToB? I generally find them too underpowered by then, except maybe for soloists. |

![]()
Hmm, but you must admit you wrote that part down in quite a messed up way... I'm re-reading that part over and over again, and our analysis still sounds correct... Misunderstanding indeed. But we didn't cause the confusion. ![]()
