Patience, tactics, and luck will allow you to win the greywolf fight with lvl 1-2 characters.

I imagine it was Nimbul that got Eirik... I found that encounter particularly vexing... Everyone tired, wounded, and in need of spell rememorization, and here's someone who comes out of nowhere, directly blocking your recovery, and in the least expected of places.

Illumina has it right. It was nimbul,Im still finding my feet with magic. I have Dynaheir on side and I picked up Branwen as well (she cant use any spells that I give her).
This assasin is way above anything Ive met.so I went back into the wilds to avoid him.after all why pick a fight you cant win?

Branwen can't use the spells you give her because the only scrolls you find in the game are mage scrolls - and she's a cleric. Cleric spells are learned automatically, just click on her priest scroll book and you'll see a whole load there.

I would say make sure you have as many archers in your party as possible - ranged weapons are absolutely the way to go in this game. You'll find that once you give everyone a bow or a sling, you're taking people out so much faster. It's a hassle to have to restock, but it'll definitely help against people like Nimbul.

Yes I kept Imoen alive from the start because she's quick off the mark. I also customised myself to ranged fighter and use the best longbow I can get with +2 arrows used sparingly. My party works a heap better after customising all members.
We're currently hunting bandits for Officer Vai.

You need to kill Nimbul and read his letter, cuz it will lead you to somewhere else that's important for you to travel on.

I took some advice from another list about soloing a mage thru the game. After so many encounters in the wild with bandits/monsters Im level 3 as are my most of my party, not to mention more +1 gear. When we finally met Nimbul, we were on him so quick he died without even getting one spell off! Im especially proud of Ajantis who did 22 points damage with one hit!!
The letter mentions a name, Tazok.should I remember that?
Having a good game, though I should like to know more about the Black talon elite.
