i found the easiest way to defeat the chromatic demon was with a power word stun spell.

The chromatic demon was also a problem for my solo swashy. Then I locked him up and laid traps outside one of the doors. Open the door, entice him out and BAM! Problem solved.

The easiest person to kill him in solo must be a cleric, just ure harm(took him on lvl 13) 3 rounds, one for harm, 1 for hitting with it and 1 to finish gim of,
. Ofcourse I had summend some monsters for him to hit before I let him go
