I wondered about that one. There is no link, and in an article that is supposed to be a review of the best and worst of the Euro Media it's a bit uprising.

There is no link to this one either:

"Best War 2003: For the U.S., the war against terrorism. For France, the war against the U.S. For Fox, the war against CNN."

Is this supposed to be about the European press or is it the biased opinion of the NRO?

Not a book - an editorial from a newspaper. The last paragraph, not shown in it's entirety on the NRO link states:

"I hate feeling this hatred. I have to keep reminding myself that if Bush hadn't been (so narrowly) elected, we wouldn't be here, and none of this would have happened. There is another America. Long live the other America, and may this one pass away soon."

I must have missed that - when did France declare war on the US? Davros racks his brains - ya know I don't think that really happened. Remind me not to take "Best wars of 2003" category iff'n I ever play jeopardy.

I missed the second one
The first one is not country bashing, please note the words French, French government, and also the words French and British people/press.

Unless I'm misstaken French is not a country, neither is British

Hey Donut - how come you are an Apothis again

And how come I am a "Scared Apothis" with the same picture as the Apothis? I am confused.

Welcome back, MagiK. Did I ever tell you how much I missed the way you get under the skin of some folks. I mean, I try try try and just can't do it.

Anyway, I'm with MagiK and Cerek. That was a fine article, seemed to jab at just about everyone, and even cited a biscuit car show as best show -- and I note when I linked to Top Gear, the lead article was about the atrocious Chrysler Crossfire, including the observation: "Leave it to the Americans to ruin a Mercedes." Look, the way I hate the NRO, if the article didn't offend me, how bad can it be.

Davros, the CE forum calls for thicker skin, and yours has been thinning recently. If you can't take the heat, you may need to take a break. No offense, just a fair observation.

Yeah you have told me before And I also just remembered the actual reason I posted the quote Donut made...couldn't at the time remember why I would be that blatant...now I remember, just shows you how dedicated I am....ahh well. Seems that it was suspected that Oasis was being "monitored" and some of us wondered to what end....now we know, there were several other provocative quotes made as well but this is the first or second to come out.

As for getting under peoples skin.....I just realized I was being sucked back in... not at all what I wanted...but oh well.

Not all items on his list have links. The LIST is his, though it references other lists and news articles and websites which it links to. So, the "war on the US" is HIS "best of" list, and I suppose he means the political war, not real combat. Of course we all knew that, didn't we?

Do all wars HAVE to be Declared? Are there never any covert Wars? or Implicit wars or wars of words? or wars of ideology?

I know this forum is one big war zone and yet I don't believe I have seen a formal declaration...

Since when are Davors and Donut so very very literal?

Well I think you guys must "skim read" a whole lot better than I do. Let me give you just a few "gems" without going to further links :

1) For France, the war against the U.S (huh - just when was war declared and who's view paints France as the the unjust agressor for waging the war? Why the writer of course)
2) Political Cowardice: That would be the side view of despised French prime minister (despised by who - a majrity of the French people, a minority of the French people, the administration, the writer, or the anticipated audience?)
3) defaulted to French form: They retreated (oh yes - a favourite retort of the anti-France crowd - let's bring up the war - I did mention it once but I think I got away with it - oh what the hell - let's bring it up again anyway - always gets a laugh with the readers - no? - well NRO readers like to see it so it will sell papers so there)
4) the lamest, most desultory strikes in modern French history (just glowing in praise this writer dude huh)
5) The French government is now hated by the French even more than it is hated by Americans.
(oh yes - not only dismissive and specious but inflammatory - let's not forget to remind the readers that they hate the French OK?)
6) Best to remember: 15, 000 elderly French citizens died last August because of family neglect and governmental incompetence. One. Five. Zero, zero, zero. (yeah - this guy just oozes sensitivity and class - The "Best to remember" award? . One of his beter derisive gems really)

That was as far as I read - France had managed to earn the writers despite in 5 of 7 of his "awards" so far it is just basically a diatribe against a country and a culture. Feel free to find it even handed, non-judgmental and informative.

I will feel free to find it to be twisted bitter country bashing spittle twattle.

Priceless - just priceless!! I used to use that "oh I just remembered" ploy when I was at school!! It never worked then either! ROTFLMAO!

You've made my day!

PS Magik - watch out, there's a Skunk about! You being a spy and all that I thought you would have caught on.
