Not that the others may "approve" however, you hardly ever hear about lynching these days...

I think it falls into the catagory "you give an inch and they take a mile" Or at least that is how it has been preceived by the people in all those "red areas".
How is it 'In your Face'?

Well, here's one way how. The majority of the gay activist organizations oppose civil unions. Having the substantive rights for their members to better their lives is less important to them than pressing the to-may-to, to-mah-to issue of whether or not you must name the darned thing "marriage." It's a real shame they let their members down like that. And, this isn't news this election -- from the beginning many of us predicted gays would see a backlash from pursuing such a hardline stance. It's just the sheer magnitude of that backlash that astounds me -- fully 1/5 of the states thwacked 'em. And, now, their struggle is set back 5 years.

Well like most social issues I think it will turn out that the Conservative stance is the wrong one, as usual.

Im sorry, I thought you were familiar with the discussion. I suggest you read up on the subject of what has been going on. It would lead us way off topic for me to sit here and go over the whole Gay Marriage issue and other liberal societal challenges and how it was being crammed down the throats of the people who turned around and voted it down.

Oh so you were saying that the 'issue' of Gay Marriage is 'In your Face' .. but not the actual act of Gay Marriage.

[/QUOTE]Then I apologize, on behalf of the GLBT community, for demanding equal rights and protections for all taxpaying citizens. How dare we suggest such a thing.

I'D, you can accept the world as it is and try to change it incrementally or you can do as the GLBT did and try to brute force your way through the issue al at once in one go...in every case the majority will squash ya. You, well they not you in particular can cry about how unfair real life is and how mean those majority people are...but at the end of they day, where did it get you. I suppose no one ever told the GLBT (whatever that actually stands for) that you catch far more flies with honey than you do with vinnegar.

Reality...deal with it...or it WILL kill you.

Edit: and just in case you are wondering just how homophobic this crusty old coot is, I support civil unions and vote against gay "marriage". To me the Term Marriage holds a significant meaning to my culture and my religion and since I am a very firm believer in the meaning of words....I support Civil Unions or any horse of a similar color...as long as it isn't called "Marriage".
Call it a semantics issue...but it is an important one to me.
