Jeez, I've known about the Taliban for yonks. In Britain, the Guardian, and even a couple of women's magazine's have had articles on the Taliban - the majority that I've read have focused on the plight of women.

The truth is, there is PLENTY of information about the human rights abuses that go on all over the world. The web is saturated with it, and in Britain at least, there are newspaper and magazine articles every now and then. Organisations such as Amnesty International also put the spotlight on abuse and atrocities to human beings. Check out their web site. Those who care, know. Those who don't give a flying damn about anything outside their own little sphere, probably don't know that much.

Same way as there is oodles of information about what is happening to the global environment, what is happening to the food chain, what is happening to biodiversity, what is happening to population, what is happening to....

Yeah.........

Yes, I'm very satirical

Who is "we" Ryanamur? Much of the world has been aware of the Taliban's actions for donkeys ages. Even on this board we posted about the desruction of the Buddhist statues months ago. Near the start of the year.

Oh, and it's "sarcastic" I believe

I agree with you, we have been aware of it but never really paid any attention to it. I guess it's the "if it doesn't affect us then it's OK" mentality.

Thanks for the "sarcastic", learning a second language is a never ending endeavour

Edit: you can delete your bump, I got it thanks

Unbelievable. We say "yonks" and "yonkers" in Australia too. Just the other day I actually went to Yonkers, New York. Immediately north of NYC. I found it hard taking the place seriously. Now if I go back I can say "I haven't been in Yonkers for yonks"
