Soloing is fun, but you do have to impose some restrictions on yourself, its a personal thing though. Dundee doesn't consider it non-soloing to kill Nalia, ten revive her afterwards. I do. As i said, everyone has to make their own rules.

I hae been playing with a party lately... i remember why i went solo... "You must gather your party before venturing forth." That voice is sooo.... *^&$!@#^!&^%@*&^%#$$!^%$#!&^%$@*#&$^%!#&*^%@&!&^$@*%$@!%$@! [/rant]

You are supposed to arrest Valgar, not blugdeon him to death first chance you get. Hence the need to listen to what he has to say first. There is a difference between being good, and being blinded by overzealousnous

We're not over-zealous, we're over-excited! seriously, dont think i've ever bludgeoned him to death. I think i kept him in my party once, and just took him to open the door to the sphere about 15-16 times [img]smile.gif[/img] Have never killed him... except that one time where he was in a pack of drow and i fire-ball-ed the whole group

Valygar is considered "armed and dangerous" by Cowleds. He killed their members. And he is said to be a magic-hater. How would a sorc approach such a foe? A dagger under a limb while talking to you is possible when speaking of haters&fanatics. Fortunately, Valygar is not such a man. But a low-level sorc. may take precautions and kill him before he gets too close. Just for sake of security

All I know, guys, is that you absolutely do NOT have to take Nalia along with you to complete De'Arnise Hold, and you can still get the 10,150 GP reward and the 45,000 XP reward. If it didn't work, then either there was a major bug with the game, or you unwittingly slighted one of the characters I mentioned earlier (Nalia, Daleson, Lady Delcia).

There can also be found a large amount of gold pieces in the statue behind the body of Lord De'Arnisse.

Sazerac, its probably a discrepancy between peoples version of BG2, so I was only speaking from my own experiences with the game. I have tried it multiple times using multiple classes, being especially careful when talking to Nalia, Daleson and "the Aunt". Saving the game before confronting Torgal, and taking him on solo, then reporting to Nalia in the fort outside with the bad news about her father always gets me the 44000XP but just a 650GP reward. Going back to the saved game, then enlisting Nalia, then taking out Torgal, then going outside always nets me the same XP but grants 10650 GP.

I guess its just a bug, but I'm not aware of a fix for it. Can anyone else test this and let me know what rewards are gained going both solo and with Nalia so we can get to the bottom of this [img]smile.gif[/img] ?

I would be happy just with the 45,500xp PER PARTY MEMBER! At best killing dragons only gets you 64,000xp for the ENTIRE PARTY. Im more concerned with getting xp and lvling up my party than getting gold. Theres plenty of stuff that can be stolen from de'Arnise Hold anyway if you didnt get the full amount of money possible.

Well, I play with the Baldurdash Fixpack, so that's probably what fixes the bug. Being that I'm playing a Wild Mage, I also have ToB installed, but I noticed the full GP reward when just playing plain SoA...we all got it in multiplay and didn't have Nalia in the party then either.

Question: is it possible that you must have at least 1 NPC in the party to get the full amount? I've never played solo before; is that where the discrepancy is coming in?

I dont have the baldurash fixpack, I'll download and install it. I have an autosave from exiting the keep after killing Torg, so I dunno if it will work but it's worth a try
