I think Martin said in his speech that he was stepping down as leader of the Liberals. Wonder who'll replace him.

I'd expect to see a bunch of the same that participated in the last leadership race. It wouldn't surprise me to see the return of John Manley and Allan Rock, especially now that Martin's out of the picture. Interesting that McClellan didn't win her own riding, she seemed to be the chosen successor.

Personally, I'm glad that Martin's done. Since day 1, he's seemed to me to be more concerned with holding onto power than doing anything new. Certainly, that's not a fault particular to him out of all politicians, but every move he made just seemed to have...political ramifications.

Just out of curiosity, the Conservative's motto was "Stand Up for Canada." Haven't they advocated far more integration with America, which necessarily means more American-dominance?

So now I have the Prime Minister and my Premier representing my riding...we need to be getting some more hospitals and whatnot methinks.

You've got the power in your hands there. I've got a nobody... I think... and the Hancock, isn't he the education minister or something for Alberta? I have no idea, I don't even care about Alberta's provincial stuff anymore. It's all conservative anyways.

1) Harper will, at some point, make me ashamed that he is representing me as prime minister.

2) Martin will, at some point, make me ashamed that he is representing me as leader of the official opposition. Edit: although the early reports are that he will step down.

3) Layton will, at some point, make me ashamed that he won his own riding.

4) The parliament will be almost as dysfunctional as the last one, get more done, be more controversial, and spew even more rhetoric at the media in preparation for the next election. Oh, and you can forget about the GST rollback, too.

5) The minority government will fall within a year and we'll elect another minority government the next time around, too.
As Martin has said he will be stepping down from leadership, and it will probably take them some time to find a new leader and reorganize the Liberal party, I can see the current elected government lasting a bit longer than that. That beinging said, in the Conservatives leave a gaping opening the Liberals will probably take advantage of it.

I don't believe 'Stand Up for Canada' means you have to be anti-American. Contrary to this, I would think it would be standing up for traditional Canadian values such as respecting other cultures, and standing up to those who would take pot shots at another culture for the purpose of promoting bigotry, appearing patriotic, or even political gain.

Not much only heard he is a controversial radio host in Montreal. Kind of a French Howard Stern. The power of the media.

We had good voter turn out, over 60% and they were worried it would be closer to 50%.

Here he is:
http://www.cbc.ca/story/canadavotes2...hur060124.html

He once said that African students at Laval University were the children of dictators and cannibals.

Great another big mouth to embarrass us in front of the world. Good thing not many watch us.
