It can be. Harm is a good example... It's sort of a cheap spell, for a figher/cleric at least. No saving throw or nothing.
Mirror Image is another one. I don't know, it's sort of too powerful a spell for Level 2, don't you think? Maybe it's just me...

Considering Mirror Image in BG2 still leaves you with a 1/(number of images + 1) chance of being hit, I would say it's about right for a lvl 2 spell. However, as I recall, in BG1 you were untouchable until all of your images had been dispelled, now that was sort of overpowered.

Yes. MI is an effective 'defense' against spells like ADHW, becuase it works the exact same way with that spell as it does with attacks. Harm with a F/C is quite good, but what's even better is Critical Striking, then Harm'ing the victim...

That goes without saying, dear one. The only better thing to do is to be a fighter/mage, Improved Alarcrity, Whirlweind Attack, and Critical Strike.

due to a coding error, hard coded into the game engine, mirror image will protect you from cloudkill, skull trap, inc cloud, stinky cloud, fire storm, abi dahizim...etc. it is in fact the only blast spell protection you need, in the game...period...

as for minor globe, try using the staff of power ... bolts of lightning from the staff paralyse without save if they don't kill the target...in a small room, you can have many bolts bouncing off, each paralysing anything it hits..

Minor globe of invuerbilty, can't think of any "cheesy" tactic's with that, Mirror image, not realy cheese either...

Cromatic orb? I just can't think how you'd abuse that.. Find familair, though I can see a way to do it, but it's limited..
chromatic orb is super cheesy...malison, followed by many chromatic orbs can kill dragons...the save penalty is irrelevant if you cast many many of them, with multiple mages using spell sequencer...sooner or later one will get thru magic resistance, and the target will fail the save...think of it as as powerful as the finger of death, because you can spell sequence it...and minor sequence it, and spell trigger it...

familars are utterly cheesy...

choose lawful neutral, then get a ferret...

after killing the unseeing eye, if you didn't use the rift device, have someone remove all items in inventory...now give the npc the unused, fully charged rift device, and have the ferret pickpocket the device...now you can smuggle the rift device past the instant kill check at the sewers...once outside, ask the ferret to give you all the items its pickpocketed...the special inventory space a familiar has for its pickpocketed items bypasses any inventory checkpoints in the game, including the underdark...yes, you can smuggle drow items out of the underdark...

in multiplayer, summon familiar...then export out the game, and reimport (i really don't know the exact details of export importing the game) you lose the familiar, and you keep the extra hit points...

actually power attack is even cheesier...try improve hasting an archer, and hitting power attack...-4 penalty to stun anything, and if you are doing 7-9 attacks per round with improved haste and long bow, you can bet within a few rounds you've stunned your victim, even dragons..crit strike is blocked by a helmet item, or anything worn in the head slot, so its not as good...

sleep, charm person, dire charm...not cheesy, but not terribly effective spells either...

now feeblemind, that's a cheesy spell...breaks scripts, so they just stand around doing nothing, while aerie kills the dragon with a quarterstaff +1...also, cast on blue circle enemies, if the spell fails, they will NOT attack...and of course if it succeeds, well, then you bash them to death... Find familiar was specified as a limited use of cheese. The infamous rift device cheese...
And Chromatic Orb... This is the solo avenger's ticket to greatness. Magic Resistance can be used to actually lower a dragon's resistance.. then Doom.. Then an orb or two or three or six.

doom stacks...multiple dooms in spell sequencer, by aerie will drop a dragon's saves down to nothing...actually called shot will also stack...a round of arrows, and a dragon has no ability to save at all...unleash a spell sequencer of orbs, watch it die...
