The actor playing Minsc has to act... erm... as though he's one bun short of a baker's dozen.

The Rock and Arnold do not readily fit this description.

Consider Brendan Fraser instead.

A long, long time ago, on the BIS Board, a debate was conducted on what was the most likely character for the protaganist.

It was generally regarded that the person would be male and a spellcaster, with the camp split equally between Mage and Cleric.

This verdict was reached by taking into account events from all three games in the trilogy. From BG1 to ToB.

From what we know, the character was a free spirit, and perhaps a bit irresponsible in his youth. The death of Gorion changed his life though.

We gather that the character was most likely male due to his constant interactions with females, especially Imoen. You miss out a lot in the game by being female. The rivalry between Sarevock and the main char would make more sense too.

Candlekeep is a library, and Gorion is a Mage. Elminister is a Mage. Khelben Blackstaff is a Mage. With that kind of company, it was going to have a major influence on his life. Hence the general agreement that he would be a spellcaster. Hell, Imoen became a Mage.

Hence my submission that Viggo Mortensen be the protaganist. I can see him playing pranks, being serious and kicking butt as a spellcaster.

I have to agrre, Arnold couldn'y play Minsc. All he has going for him is the body and voice (Sort of. Minsc sounds more Russian than Austrian).

Arnold is too old to lay Minsc (Who looks in his Mid-Twenties), and to throw in personal opinion, I can't see Arnold in Comedy. He only had one Comedy I liked, Twins.

Brendan Fraser could play Minsc if he gained just a bit more muscle mass.

As for Nalia, well she looks and sounds like Drew Barrymore! Drew even looked skinnier in 50 First Dates, IMO.

As far as protaganists, I say there should be more than one, just to have a more broad storyline for a series. If it's a movie, then there should be one.

For a series, though, newer storylines could be explored with more than one protaganist. For instance, one could have given up their Bhaal Essence somehow before the Prophecy came to pass.

As far as Classes, I'm all for a Mage/Thief, though I've never played one.

Arnold as minsc? As many have stated it's a no go. For the reasons stated and not to mention he's got a long time acting role as California's gov. Oh yeah, any Californians who can tell me/us whether Arnie's doing a good job over there?

Not that I'm playing movie police or anything, but off the top of my head I can think of 3 Arnold comedies: Kindergarten Cop, Junior, and Twins. To be honest I'd throw in True Lies and The Last Action Hero (even though it really sucked). All of that said I don't see Arnold as Minsc. Brandon Fraser could handle the acting, but isn't really the physical presence for Minsc.
