up again and down to the cellars
- I met a guy who led a party down here. Now he's running away. Fool.
- There's a lot of strange things here. A floating picture of a sword, a winepress, several pieces of machinery. I'm not quite sure how all this should add up.
- I found four guardians in a large room. They presented me with some riddles and gave themselves abstract names such as Avarice or Fear.
- There's a lot of nice stuff here, probably ore than I can sell. I gotta pick the best pieces and pack them up so they don't get damaged.
- I finally figured it out, actually it was pure luck and boredom. I played around with everything on this level and when I met the guardians again they seemed content, but also unpleasantly violent. After a tough battle I had to use all my healing skill to stop my bleedings. I hope the next challenges will be easier.
- When I entered there was nobody, but after fumbling with some statues the most mindboggling thing happened. There were apparitions of Durlag Trollkiller and his family who talked a lot about the tower. Then they turned into Dopplegangers and attacked. After a while I was chased by phantoms and dopplegangers until I found the level exit.
- Damn! It was a trap and a bunch of Skeleton Warriors attack in a cloud of something REALLY smelly.
- After I got rid of the undead I found the true exit not so well hidden just below. Note to self: The next time think first!
- Had to sprint through the first room. Fireballs every 6 seconds, sure a hot start. A guardian warned me about wyvern in the next room and told me to use petrified heros who are at my disposal. I figured I could handle some wyvern myself.
- Uh oh, this is one BIG skeleton. Good thing I didn't meet that dragon when he was alive. The wyvern are greater than the usual kind. I'm just glad I'm immune to poison, that way I only have to take the direct hits.
- I beat them eventually. I guess it's now time to vanquish these heoes too. There can only be one
- There are four rooms which seem to present some kind of challenge each connected with one of the elements.
- I checked out the cold and the fire room. Both were fairly easy, just that Mountain Bear was kinda weird. just didn't want to die
- The both last rooms were a bit more challenging but no bad either, then I was teleported onto a chessboard and a voice explained some rules. I don't care. Just bombarded the other side with the missile necklace and kicked the sh** out of the rest.
- Again an apparition of Durlag Trollkiller, but this time it's not hostile. After running around a great deal I foun a secret door that led to some caves. They are filled with acid, which is rather unpleasant, and of course Carrion Crawlers and Ghouls. Without the Ring of Free Action I might have never emerged here alive. Near the head Ghoul I found a compass or something shaped like a compass. It seemed important, but didn't make much sense.
- After exploring everything here a little more I have come to the conclusion that some of the architecture here is enchanted and will probably present me with some challenge if I use it.
- I eventually risked a try and as it turns out the bed, the throne, ... all were teleporters and brought me to a room full of statues where I was questioned until allowed back. I had to guess quite a few times and always was punished. I'll have to rest some more to heal myself.
- After talking to Durlag's apparition again he showed me the way to the DemonKnight's lair.
- I met another adventuress who ran in terror of the Demon Knight. Come on, he can't be that bad, I'm just going to check on him.
- THIS is supposed to be tough? He casted a few useless spells and then we went into melee. Okay, so I needed two or three health potions, but judging on how fast he fell I'm sure my late brother would also have managed to kill him.
He had that dagger on him, that the dwarf wanted. I think I'm going to take it, the dwarf WILL pay for it eventually, one way or the other.
- Another apparition (apparently Durlag's wife) transported me out of the tower, I'll rest and then get back to the Beard.
- Back to Ulgoth's Beard I got attacked by some cultists. They fell of course but one of them took the dagger. Who do they figure I am? Some stupid tourist they can steal from?
- The dwarf says that they are going to raise a demon. Frankly I don't care. Actually I think it's great for evil to lift up its neck once again.
BUT THEY STOLE FROM ME! This can NOT stand. I know that it would be for the greater good (actually evil ) to let them proceed, but my pride dicates me to stop them.
- I cleared their compound of guards, but I had to lure them outside. Inside the backstabbers would have swarmed me and made short work of me attacking from all sides.
- I stormed down and faced the demon just as it was summoned. The followers were easily eliminated. I'm getting the hang of this, I probably could beat Bruce Lee if I knew who he was
The demon took a bit longer, but after he died he was "reborn" in one of the acolytes. I guess I should have killed the acolytes first.
So it took another big struggle to take him down, but in the end I was victorious.
- Now I'll rest, and then maybe I'm going to look for another quest later. I need some time to think about the last days.
