The German Army was superior to the Soviets in every way except manpower. Hitler screwed up (BTW, I am in no way a follower, supporter or admirer of Hitler or his ideas), by not taking England out first and freeing up his manpower on the western front. He got impatient.

That's right. Hitler's mistake (and thank God he did it ) was to go after Russia before he took down UK. It kind of ironic because would he have continued the Battle of Brittain, he most likely would have won the war! England was essentially defeated at that point and was just about ready to buckle. Now, by diverting his attention to Russia, England was able to rebuilt and carry on with the war.

O' course you can Hiram! Two principle points:

I object to the US (and other nations) military action in Afghanistan, as you will see if you read through the top few threads in this forum.

Also, I object to the US stance on the environment, which has been discussed in other threads in GD.
OK?

Very wrong Flojtsdale, the US sent massive aid to the UK before we entered WWII (Lend Lease program anyone?), including escorting convoys in which our ships were torpedoed right along with yours. Yet were "not in the war". Not trying to start an arguement, but I do have to correct you on that.

Not what I meant, really - military aid was what I had in mind. But my comment was only a very cross rejoinder to Yorick's post accusing Brits of being America-haters, and not at all well-considered! Didn't intend to rattle anyone's bones!

Essentially defeated?! Never! We still had 'Dad's Army' (The Territorials)!

Thank you for that response. I did read the top few threads and I'm a tad confused. It is your opinion that the U.S. did not care about Great Britain until the U.S. was attacked at Pearl Harbor?

It seemed that many people objected more to the title of the thread as opposed to the content of it.

I won't remind people of perceptions and differing viewpoints. That should be self explanatory by now. I do have difficulty with having our nation's actions being protested. This comes from an Ex-Army fellow who was protested in two countries.

I'll continue to read and try not to respond.

Um! Not exactly, Hiram! It was simply a very cross response to Yorick's post!

Yes, I DID say the US didn't give a stuff about Britain until Pearl Harbour! And, no, it was not exactly what I meant!

Yorick is a VERY provoking man! He has made some very sweeping and inaccurate statements, and I replied with that comment by way of retaliation. Very bad of me I know! You are the third person to pick me up on it, lol!
I'm gonna post this in big bold letters for everyone to see!

Fear not Fljotsdale!

A Queen, such as yourself, need never, ever explain herself and therefore may be as cryptic as she pleases!

That's the Law of the Land!
