Not fair, not fair! I've been wasting my time searching for the lyrics of "You Wanna Buy A Bunny" by Spike Jones instead of just posting!

Do you happen to have said lyrics handy? The song title is absolutely riveting...

Just found them and posted! Very hard to find and I had to clean them up to get them to look right. It's in the Silly Song thread! Worth all the trouble, though!

And 'Flj' as... er... in English flie could be either 'fly' of 'flee' (arrggh!)

'oe' is easy enough
So! either
Fly-oe-dsdale or Flee-oe-dsdale - and I think the 'dale' is not pronounced as in English either!
I think it comes out as something like:

Flee-oe-ds-daa-ler ????? Flee-oe-ds-daal ???

Which sound rather nice, actually.

Hey, peeps! Try saying it with your best attempt at a Danish accent (or, preferably, Icelandic - well - you've all heard Bjork, I imagine!)

EDIT: Grr! Accidentally hit send before I'd finished!

I guess it's closer too Flee-oe-ds and yes its Daal, except Dale is not an icelandic word, I thought that part of your name was just the english like in Icewind Dale. The icelandic word for that would be Dalur... which is pretty close.

I'm thinking of trying to find my microphone and just post a Wav file of how it's said... would save a lot of trouble...

That would be cool! Zbyszek did that so we would know how to pronouce his name.

The book I have says 'Fljotsdale Saga' but since it is in English....!
I guess in Old Icelandic it would be 'Fljotsdalr'.
So - until I hear it from Jorath- I am Flee-oe-ds-dalur.

Ha! Fljotsdale = Flee-oeds-dalur.

Its very nice to know that! (For me, anyway! )

Hehehehe!! I've got one too! Mine's mostly magazines and 'useful' papers though.

But Miss Fljotsdale, I take it that by "Flee-oeds-dalur" you are trying to represent the pronunciation based on English phonetics, but that only serves to confuse me even more: how am I am supposed to pronounce "oeds" in English ? I know of no word in the English language that contains a syllable even remotely resembling "oeds" ...
