Well, I didnt leave yet.
I will do now though.

But before I go I just want to let you know that this :

Quote:
Almost every week, some Jews get mugged, simply for being Jews. Almost nobody pays attention to it. When an anti-Semitic act is so disgusting it is impossible to hide it, journalists will speak of "confrontation between communities." When confronted with the reality that these "confrontations" are always Muslims attacking Jews, the editorial response: "Just because there has yet to be a single documented case of a Jew attacking a Muslim yet doesn't mean it will never happen. . . ."
And Jews are not the only victims of France's new identification with radical Islam. In many French cities with a growing radical Islamist population, no teenage girl can go out in the evening, at least not without a full burqa. If she does, it will mean that "she is for everybody": in short, a whore. In the same cities, every teenage girl - regardless of religion - has to wear the Muslim veil if she does not want to be harassed or killed. Almost every month, a young woman is mugged and raped in a suburb of a big city. Gang rape has become so frequent that a new word, used by the rapists themselves to define their hideous actions, is used by everybody: tournantes (revolving). To the rapists, the woman is nothing, a mere object to be thrown away after use. The people who speak about "revolving" seem to forget a human being is involved as the victim. Policemen do nothing. Every decent person knows the problem is Islam, but no one dares to say it. It could be dangerous. The streets are not safe.
...is the biggest shitload of lies I've ever seen in my life. Believe me or not, I don't give a damn.

I don't know if the guy is talking about the same France I know.

Yes some jews got mugged by arabs, it happens everywhere, in every country, but yes in the same times we have some very radicalist jew movement that mugs arabs too (I even met some, unfortunately). I don't know any city where all the girls regarding their religions must wear the burqa or whatever, etc..

This is really full of lies.

This article disgusts me. The fact that you can believe these craps makes me even more sick.

Bye all. Was (not so) fun.

Masklin, aside form venting and exhibiting your disgust with the article, you didn't give me any real new data to counter the article..all you gave were personal opinions..which is fine...but I weas hoping to get more. Heaven knows I don't hesitate to butt in with my personal opinions . As for believing the article....I believe some of the facts because they are documented elsewhere, the real issues around corruption in the French Government make me wonder why there is so much carping about american politics and not more about french. Yes the guy is defiantely an extrremist, so I posted the article to get some balancing views, so please don't think Im behind this fellow or his article.

I'll try to rebut this strange comment with some facts from the FBI.

Here
The FBI's annual statistical report showed that hate crimes in the United States increased 21 percent from 8,063 in 2000 to 9,730 in 2001. Most of last year's hate crimes were motivated by racial bias (45 percent), followed by biases against ethnicity or national origin (22 percent), religion (19 percent), sexual orientation (14 percent) and disability (0.3 percent).

The most dramatic change noted by the report was a more than 1,600 percent increase in reported hate crimes against Muslims -- a jump from 28 hate incidents in 2000 to 481 last year.

And in Australia

And the UK

"Victims of hate crime were mostly male (62.7%) and aged between 26 and 50 (50.6%) and of Asian background (42.8%). Offenders were primarily aged between 16 and 25 (47.8%) and white (68.1%). Other findings include fewer stop searches. The number of white, black and Asian searches fell by 18%, 32.8% and 10.2%. There was a 7.4% reduction in complaints against the police, and there were an additional 25 ethnic minority police officers."

Hate crime is unacceptable whenever it happens but you should never ignore the facts.
[/QUOTE]Thank you for the links. What I see are statistical increases short term for muslims being victims (due mostly to 9/11 and recent Muslim terrorist activities), but that the jews are a steady and apparently safe target. And I was by no means trying to imply that ONLY european nations were hot beds of anti-semetism, as I said in a different post, there is a particular Virginia Congress man who has been doing a rather poor job of retracting some anti-semetic remarks he had made recently.

No - they are not a safe target. Hate crime against Jews is prosecuted just as much as any other crime. Where did you get the idea that we think it's okay to commit racist attacks against jews?

See my recent comments about a certain congressman from Virginia. We had a Speaker of the HOuse (Prestigious position) who was forced to stand down for mearely insinuating something racist towards African-Americans
while this guy in Virginia balmed the war in Iraq on Jews and then compounded his insult by lumping "them" into a catagory in a follow on speach. So far there has been almost no call for action against him nor has he been required to resign his positions of prestige within the congress.

That is the case for my view in the US, my case for it in the EU is the laws preventing jews from keeping Kosher.

Edit: Rather than safe target...maybe I should say...safer?

In the US, anti-semitism goes hand-in-hand with the "trademark" nature of jewish names. It's very tounge-in-cheek. MagiK is quite right that it is not exactly frowned upon to believe in certain prejudices against the jews, some common ones of which are: Jews have some sort of ability to pull the strings of power in the US, US jews all support Israeli politics, anyone with stein or berg in their name is rich, etc.

In the US, the "power" prejudice goes hand-in-hand with the "zionist plot" theories spouted by various groups - the worst of which is the KKK. On this level, anti-semitism encompasses the jews in the US as well as Israel.

I'm backing off this subject, though. It always gets out of hand. Too much history to ever see through the fog. Especially when we start looking to Israel.

Suffice to say I do not support all of Sharon's methods, and I am opposed to settling on Palestinian lands, but I wholely support the Israeli people and I sympathize with the plight of someone surrounded on all sides by enemies who would love to eat their hearts. I support Israeli actions in 1967.
