c8-e6 will get you in problems after: d4 -d5 winning material. The position is extremely interesting.

Assassin-way to go!!

I'm not so sure about the 4.e5-d6 or e6 move. It seems like you just give up material for nothing. And that piece is a passed pawn as well, making it extremely valuable lategame. Similarily, the 5 move is also fishy. It's what I got as the 'best' answer, but could someone tell me why/how? All of the rest... I understand. I just don't get the 4th or the 5th moves.

Move number 5 is a checkmate in 3, or material gains (knight f8). The move on the 4'th diagram, is a winning due to ... B*e6
Bc2!! bf7 (or g8, doesnot matter)
ke5! and white is victorious.

Question about the tournament: Not to hurry any one or anything, but does the whole thing moves forward?

I will leave for some time the forums, soon. I return to the army in a week (21.7). I hope, however that the tournament issue would be solved between other players, till my return.

I probably will return for 2 days each 2 weeks.

Unless I missed someone else's post, am I correct in assuming that there has only been *one* match?

Unfortunately, yes. There was only our (Assassin and me) game.

Since, as I understand it, this tournament is being played in a round robin format, if the rest of this round's matches are having difficulty being completed in a timely manner then why don't we just go on to another round and finish this one up when we can?

We can't go to another round without at elast 2 pairs having finished. Only 1 has finished so far.

Perhaps I'm laboring under a misconception here. This is an all-plays-all tournament, is it not? Why, then, can we not simply play another opponent while we are waiting for others to reply to our attempts to schedule a match?
