Minsc seems to have a time limit before he becomes hostile. Approx 21 days. I had to go back to an earlier save inorder to complete the Gnoll fortress quest.

Yes - that's because his 'mission' is to protect Dynaheir. If you don't go to the gnoll stronghold, it means that you 'betray' him.

Yeah, but I wish he felt a little bit more urgent about it--in one game, I picked up Minsc, cleared the Nashkel Mines, picked up Coran, completed Coran's quest, and then got almost all the way back to the Gnoll Stronghold before Minsc reminded me that Dynaheir was in dire peril.

Well it doesn't matter anyway does it because gnolls are so easy you can clear the gnoll stronghold at level 1. I guess it would be harder if there wasn't that thin passage above pit #1 that gnolls go through 1 at a time. You gotta love the slaughter though.
