Where might the Warhammer Fantasy players meet?
I have received an invite to take the steward of a 2250 point (single standard) Dark Elf campaign army that will commence in two weeks. DOH!

Hey, in other Warhammer related questioning, can anyone tell me the overall themes and plots of Warhammer? I know the MMO is has been announced by THQ, and that it's some kind of tabletop game, most often seen with miniatures, but that's really about it.

For Ilander: I've never played the tabletop, but this game has gotten a lot of people into it. If the rumblings of a 40k Warhammer are correct, then this is a primer for it (a bit focused on the races in the game of course).
http://www.dawnofwargame.com/universe/ Edit: also click on Races at the top to get a run down of 5 of the 7 factions in the computer game (there are lots more, and sub-groups for each in the tabletop). [ 03-05-2007, 04:09 PM: Message edited by: Lucern ] |

The idea of the fantasy game:
Medieval fantasy world where the northern reaches of the world are consumed by terrible, horrible chaos that causes terrible mutations. This chaos also powers magic, all mages are at risk of being turned into mewling, disgusting chaos-spawn. The world is falling apart and even the few bastions of good are ruthless and horrible deep down, fighting not for the good of all but for their own good. The 40k stuff is essentially the same except that all of the races and factions are more obviously evil Deep Down, knights are replaced by space knights, elves are replaced by space elves, horrible monsters are replaced by space horrible monsters, etc. etc. etc. Basically it's a grim and grey future where a lot of people die for basically no particularly good or justified reason all the time. There are, of course, details to it, but that's the basics, Ilander. |
