BTW, anyone know why at night, and you look up at the stars, you can look away, and see MORE stars with your peripheral vision? I used to know, but forgot.. doesn't it have something to do with your cornea and blocking light or something? Here are some more: http://www.optillusions.com/ [ 10-18-2003, 02:07 AM: Message edited by: Ziroc ] |

Arghhh my eyes.
I like those 3D pattern-illusions, whereby you "go crossed-eyed" and it creates a sort of 3D outline of a picture. |

Hmmm. I'm thinking about Rods and Cones. These are the light receptors in your eyes. Rods and cones are activated depending on how much light is available. One is more active than the other between night and day. I believe cones work best during the day and rods at night. Thus, where your sight is not blocked as much is probably your indirect or peripheral vision, therefore more light can reach the rods. Meh, it's a guess. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm no scientist. |
