Barack Obama wins ....what now?
So Barack has won the nomination, finally!
Though I actually liked Clinton's policies more I am not upset in any way that Barack won. The question I want to ask Ironworker's is ... Can he actually win the presidency of the United States of America?

Re: Barack Obama wins ....what now?
Probably something better suited to the current events forums.
Anyway, to Illumina, why? Not saying I disagree or agree with you, but knowing how you feel leave's me wanting to know why you feel that way. side note: I was thinking while all the nominee selection was going on, if the Dem. candidate wins it would be a historic moment for the US. If it had been Clinton, the first female president, Obama would be the first black/colored/(insert PC term here) president. As for my preference I don't have one as of yet, I haven't done much research into the candidates politics so far.

Tbh their ideas were pretty much the same, but Obama is better at selling it. Especially compared to the old and uncharismatic McCain i think Obama can draw more voters in then Clinton.

Re: Barack Obama wins ....what now?
FSA- McCain represents, to me, four more years of the same failed policy that has landed in a costly, unneccesary war that has set us at the brink of a depression and sent thousands of soldiers to their deaths. For nothing. Okay? For nothing. Bush has endorsed this guy. Now, maybe there are rules about politics and parties and some such, but how on Earth has he not renounced that endorsement? McCain doesn't seem to mind that we're in Iraq in the first place. How can he talk economic policy and strategize about bringing us away from a recession when he's fine with pouring money down the drain for the forseeable future?
What do I want? I want us out of Iraq. I don't want us in Iran. Obama, if he lives up to what he says he is, represents a shift towards the government actually caring about the people, and not horrid, bloodthirsty corporations or government-sanctioned kidnappings or 1984-esque surveillance schemes. And if that's not how it plays out, well, then I guess there was nothing to hope for to begin with. Edit- Though from my posts here and over in CE over the years, I'm surprised you needed to ask

Well, to be honest I don't exactly frequent the CE forums often. And in spite of an eye for details, my memory isn't so hot on specifics.

Re: Barack Obama wins ....what now?
Finally the primaries are over. Honestly, next time around all of them should be held on the same day. This stuff has been polluting the media for way too long and has poured a lot of money down the drain...

Re: Barack Obama wins ....what now?
Hillary Clinton lost a truckload of credit in my book with her Michigan / Florida crusade - states she only won because she was the only one on the bloody ballot! As the rest of candidates actually did bother to follow party rules and withdraw from the ballot of those respective states... Heck, she did not even care one bit about those states until she realized she was losing the primaries!
The real clincher though was the nerve with which she compared this situation to the one in Zimbabwe (you know, the one with the insane dictator slaughtering people and refusing to abide by election results), which literally had me screaming at my tv screen. |
