I'm thinking about starting as a monk.
What are thee Pros and cons? Is it worth it? Should i bother using weapons?

Monks suck at low levels but after that they are mean killing machines with their fists. At level 15 they're fist are +3 and with quivering palm you can kill anything with one hit (only what requires +3 or less to hit).

They wear no armor. Well woo-frikin-hoo. IT REALLY DOSEN'T MATTER, for those who are like "Oh man, no armor" They get like a natural -4 at the end of ToB, and in SOA, they're uber! Never misjudge them. Can't haste em, to fast to be hasted. Magic resistance, stunning blow, and I'd say make em wield a katana, for the awesome katana (Forgot name) by the Slavers Compound in the Temple district (Also known as the Guarded Compound building). They're nasty, wicked awesome, you'll love em!!!!

quote: The name of the sword is the Celestial Fury, possiby the best weapon in SoA (not sure about ToB, don't have it yet). Here's the stats on that weapon: Celestial Fury, Katana +3 Combat Abilities Resounding Blow Opponent was save vs.spell or be stunned each time the weapon strikes. 10% (I think 10&) chance on successful hit to deal out additional 20 points of electrical damage. Cast Lightning Strike once per day Cast Call Lightning once per day Damage: 1d10+3 THAC0: +3 bonus Weight: 6 Speed: 3 (?) Proficiency Type: Katana Not usable by: Mage Cleric Druid ___________________ The weird thing about Monks is that while they may use Katanas, the can't gain proficiency in them. And the penalties for non-weapon proficiency still apply... Strange don't you think? However, when a monk gets to high levels, they make Katana's look weak! -Jafin

Nope, unfortunately the bracers dont add to the +3 ..
They just add +4 damage and a +4 THAC0 increase, no weapon-adjustments sorry
