Have fun!
Don't be afraid to start over if you don't like the character you make - the rules and so on are very different to what you've probably played before and it's a big big game, so lots of time to perfect new characters! Huge actually! Don't get disheartened by just how enormous the world is - it will take you ages to explore it and do all the quests and everything, even without the expansions. It's very non-linear and it can be frustrating that you've been playing for ages and you've been doing quest after quest and you realise you haven't done any of the main quest lol! And yeah, have a great time! I don't know exactly what other advice would be helpful, but be sure to come ask any specific questions you have as people always know the answers Oh make sure you install all the expansions initially; not, as I did, just Morrowind and then when I was finished the main quest (which doesn't end the game at all btw ), Tribunal. It took about 2 hours to do the install!

Well, problems already! I installed, and everything seems fine. It says I have to run the game with my display mode at True colors (32bit). I dont have that option with my on board graphics. I have a Gforce 2 (32meg) I need to install, so I cant play it right away!
BTW, the Gforce card will have that setting as an option, right?

Yes, the Gforce 2 is good enough to run the game. I have a Gforce 2 and it worked perfectly

If you upgrade to a Geforce 4 or better though, you'll get pixel shader effects which makes water look fantastic.
If you want a quick start to the game take either an orc or a breton and go to Caldera. Head NW and search the roads until you find a woman wearing glowing boots. Escort her and she'll give you the boots. These boots give you awesome speed but also blind you. Since Breton's and Orc's have magical resistance though the blindness won't work properly and your vision will merely dim. Turn up the gamma level to compensate. You can now move about the game very quickly. Be warned it does spoil combat a bit as all that speed means you'll almost never miss. You can get the same effect with other races by using a potion or spell of magical resistance before wearing the boots - I've heard it doesn't alter the dimmed vision once the spell wears off. Another hint I can give is to train your speechcraft often. A lot of quests need you to get someone to like you better. The persuasion and bribing skills rely on high speechcraft to work. If you don't have enough speechcraft it might cost you more than the reward is worth to complete a quest. Finally a quick guide to stat points and levelling. You gain a level when you raise your major and minor skills by a total of ten, or at least you can raise a level at that point by resting. The points you can put into your statistics depends on the number of times a skill relying on that stat was used. If you trained up in ten points of armourer which relies on strength then you'll be able to raise strength by 5. The increase of the statistic is half the number of skill points gained up to a maximum of five. This works regardless of whether the skill is major, minor or miscellaneous. To maximise your stat gain you should train up ten points each for three different stats. eg. 10 points of armourer for strength, 10 points of alchemy for intelligence and 10 points of speechcraft for personality. Note that you can mix the skills like having 5 of speechcraft and 5 of illusion. If you want to raise your luck then you only need 10 points worth in two statistics. |

Holywhippet, Batman! That reminds me...be careful not to choose skills that all have the same base attribute! while that attribute will definitely benefit (because you'll be trying to level up) the others are generally pretty important...and be warned that the game rewards bad characters more than good ones...but don't let all this overwhelm you, because the game itself can do that!

Save your game often, use quick save is better. this game will crash randomly. which will be very annoying.
Make sure to download the latest patch, there's some quest stopping bug with Tribunal when Bloodmoon is also installed together. enjoy the journey. |

Thanks guys. Got the Gforce installed, runs no problem! I want to buy a 265 card though. Man, that would be cool!!!
The only thing I dont like so far in the game is the damn pointer. It moves to slow, and takes forever to get that little arrow on a little "OK" button! I looked in the preferances and found only an option to change the pan scrolling sensitivity. O-well, it will take some time to get use to the whole movement of the game, but it looks great so far.
