I don't know but it seems if I start the game I'll always end up with 2 mages...Nalia, Imoen and Aerie...are 3 mages to many in a party?

Bit overkill isnt it but...
P S O P S O S I I L B E L R E Imoen leaves your party but you get her back later, Nalia is rubbish so get rid of her and keep aerie for support caster. |

Heh, I had all three of them before, when I played an all-female party, my female Cavalier, and all the female NPCs except Viconia.
The trouble with having too many mages is that you run the risk of neglecting to use all of them all the time. You usually end up with one super tooled up mage and the other one is stuck in the background doing menial tasks. You can safely replace Nalia with another NPC. |

You can never have enough mages
A party consisting only of 4/5 mages will get very powerfull at high levels. Just dual-class some to fighters for the underdark a something. They can get a lot of firepower down : 5 abi dalzim's 15 if in chaincontingeny, that 15 * +/- 100 damage = 1500 dmg |

I think that Jan makes a good mage personally. He's an excellent thief although you'll tend to use hi mgaic more. I'm playing as a necromancer so I don't need another mage.
Me Necromancer Keldorn Valygar Jaherie Jan Sir Amonem This group hasn't failed me yet and I only have 2 magic uses. Warby |

If Aerie is your cleric for your party, its a bonus that she has mage spells, so I think your fine, just have some tanks up front for protection.

Keep Nalia in my opinion. And maybe overkill, but think this. If 2 of them got time stop, both casted em without being disrupted, against really hard fight.... Holy crap. Get ur Albi-Dalzims out, greater malison, and skull traps. Times that by 2, raw power!!!!!!!!

I prefer to stick to one, maybe two mages, because I feel safer having a lot of tanks in my party
