I'm not all the way through it yet but so far it's been...interesting .

That fire column trap on the 1st level? Couldn't detect it at all with Imoen at 65% Detect Traps. But all you have to do is avoid it.

That trap on level 2 that casts hold/silence? I could detect it but not disarm it. I just rested on the spot if one of my characters got held and the effect went away.

I had to look in a guide to figure out where the heck that scimitar+2 was on the balcony! Found out it was a fireball trap that I once again could NOT disarm so I just took my meaty Ranger guy and equipped him with the 40% Fire Resistance "secret" ring I found (one of those items in the middle of nowhere...one of those secret items like the Ring of Wizardry you find on the ground next to the Friendly Arm Inn). Anyway, 40% fire resistance AND I used my priest and cast the Resist Fire/Cold spell. Before both of these effects my Ranger took like 25 and 40 damage, but after it was reduced to 6 and 6! Heh, heh, heh, who needs to disarm traps anyway?

The latest trap I survived was that Dire Charm trap when you try to take the tome on level 3. My Ranger saved vs the spell!

Anyway, anyone had any "luck" suriviving some of these traps? One that I could NOT survive was on level 2. That double damage bouncy lightning thingy hit me too many times before my ranger could get out of the way of it in time :*(

Ehh...if you're at the beginning of the game...best thing to do is level up to 5/6 with Imoen, and use yer bonsuses on Open locks/detect traps. If you can wait, there's a guy in Cloakwood that wants to find a wyvern nest and his open locks stat is at 80%....

Safana, near the siren's cave is a pretty good theif as well and she is neutral so will be good for any party. Beware of her charms though.

I went up first and even up outside. I can't believe I killed a Greater Basilisk and all I got was a lousy haste spell. Grumble, grumble.
Did you guys kill the nymph or do her quest? I killed her and Rig, but have some previous saves to fall back on if I should not have done that. Her quest sounded a little too evil for my female paladin.

That Dire Charm trap is the toughest in the game to disarm. I usually just send in a character alone. If they can't see anybody else in the party, they just stand there until the effect wears off.

Durlag's is part of TotSC. With it installed, you can go anytime if you find it on the map i.e. try to exit a map area that is adjacent to it. I wouldn't go until you've levelled up some though. It's tough.

Can you imagine trying to go through Durlag's without a thief?? Even I'm not THAT crazy.
