Yea, the berserker's good. When in rage, he has a build up of a lot of immunities against confusion, chaos, and so on. Wizard Slayer is effective against the annoying guys in robes, and builds up the chances of a wizard having a spell casting failure. (plus, as you go up more levels, the higher you magic resistance becomes) As for the Kensai, I really do like it, but the only thing about that class that bugs me is that you cannot wear any armor, which leaves me as a sitting duck. Any suggestions?

Wizard Slayers and Kensai's can be made ultra powerful when dualled to a thief. This is easiest when soloing. I dualled my WS at level 15. Once my thief obtains UAI, he can wear any item that he finds. Same with kensai; now it can wear armor. Try it out, see how it works for you.

Though not technically of the warrior class, the Swashbuckler I'm playing now is the by far most powerful fighter I've ever played with. Like all other great fighter characters (or Kensais and Monks), she's a bit weak in the beginning (have to rely primarily on the normal thief ways of getting around), but at around lvl 16-17, when I had acquired Belm and the Shadow dragon scales to finally get a decent enough AC to tank several creatures at once, she became a frightfully powerful hurricane of destruction. And then she took an even bigger leap when I got access to Use Any Item, Time Stop traps and Whirlwind at lvl 18 (I use a modified XP Table which more than triples the XP required to level up after lvl 11, so had to lower the level at which you first receive HLA's)

Though for actual Fighter class kits I prefer the Kensai. Since he's the only Fighter who can get a low enough THAC0 to hit even the toughest monsters on a regular basis. Doubt he's actually better than either the Wiz Slayer or Berserker, but he's more appealing to me.

The best fighter is not of the fighter class.

It's a Monk. Better magic resistance then the Wizard Slayer, capable of doing more damage then the Kensai, and the Monks own natural skills, magic resistances, and class bonuses beat the Berserker any day.

Sure, they are a little weak to start out, but, hey, once you hit level 15 or 16, scary stuff starts happening. Like killing dragons in one shot. You start getting immunities to darn near everything. You can kill mages just by looking at them sideways.

Second pick, a Blade. A well built Blade I'd wager could mop the floor with pretty much any pure fighter kit. With Mislead, Tensors, Stoneskin, Mirror Image, and the ability to produce huge amounts of damage both physical and magical, the Blade rocks.

Really, all three of the fighter kits are sorta weak. To bad they don't have a Bladesinger kit for Elves only.

The kensai of course. Non of this wussie dual class to thief so they can wear armour rubbish! You want a pure level 40 kensai to dish out some massive damage per round

The fact that you can't wear armour isn't a problem, kensais should be used for flanking, not front line tanking. Regardleses, your weapon speed factor will very quickly reach 0, so you're guaranteed to strike first in a round, and strike hard too. Even the toughest monsters can't survive longer than a round with a high level kensai with grandmastery in spears and ** in 2-H weapon style using the Impailer +3. I had a level 40 solo one in the underdark (just capped the XP) with 21 STR, and his damage range was 42-47 each hit!!! Then of course, he gained a natural STR of 24 and got his hands of the Staff of the Ram +6 but that's another story.....

If you have a kensai in your party, its actually possible to reach an AC as low as:

Base AC: 10
DEX 18 (+4 AC): 6
Kensai bonus (+2 AC): 4
Ring of Protection + 3 (ToB only): 1
Ring of Gaxx (+2 AC): -1
Dusty Rose Ioun Stone (+1 AC): -2
Cloak of the Sewers (+1 AC): -3
** in single weapon style, or dual wielding 2 weapons that grant an AC bonus (e.g. Dakkon Zerth's Blade + Yamato +4) giving a +2 AC bonus: -5

Then cast spirit armour to get a further +9 AC giving -14!!!

Not bad to say your running around in your boxers!

If you're talking about any figther-ish type, then the monk rules (just carry a non-magical weapon at all times, just in case).

If you mean fighter kit, then it has to be the Kensai. You don't win BG2 by avoiding damage - you win by dishing out massive amounts of damage very quickly. Who better then the Kensai, who can hit just about anything at high levels? With such a powerful character, they *had* to put in a no-armour restriction, or it would have been waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay unbalanced.

I loved playing my straight kensai, he was incredibly powerful at the end of the game, He had a ton of my kills. You can get their ac to a functional level without armor and then you just hit everybody befor they hit you. plus w/ the defender of easthaven, and a couple other items he had nasty resistances.
