Was there ever a mod for converting this game into using 3rd Ed ruleset like IWD2 or is this a figment of my imagination?

There is the Icewind Gate mod for Icewind Dale II which takes the content of a BG2 installation and converts it to work under the IWD2 engine, including the 3rd ed ruleset, new spellists and all that good stuff.

personally I don't like the 3rd ed rules, but maybe that's because I can't accustom to them or maybe it's because IWD2 is just not nearly as gripping as SoA.

Aha!! thought so!
thanks for sorting that out andrewas, now to look for it

Faceman: I know how many people feel about the IWD series, it doesn't compare to the depth of roleplaying as the BG series but the 3rd Ed ruleset in IWD2 is really awesome for creating whatever sort of character you want. IMO anyway
I just want to see whether that icewind gate mod really will transform BG2 into what i hope it will be not holding my breath though ;D
