To bring this thread back on topic…
Personally, I saw nothing wrong with Branwen’s portrait (actually, it looks good enough to me), and aside from Branwen's being one of the best (i.e. with high [16th, if I remember correctly] Wisdom) clerics out there, I also find the way you bring her into party quite interesting. The only problem I had with Branwen is that I thought it would be logical to dual-class a cleric of Tempus into a fighter… But unfortunately, Branwen’s intermediate (13th, if I remember correctly) Strength does not allow this (even the Tome of Strength won’t help in this). Branwen sucks as a character, simply because she's made quite empty. She doesn't say much or add to the story. Then again, she is the best cleric in the game, with higher wisdom and good constitution. So what if she has low strength, clerics are bad at melee anyway.

I always wanted to find the mage who turned her to stone, maybe you do and I wasn't paying attention? Although shes a great cleric i always missed some kind of a personal quest. Perhaps there's some kind of mod that adds a quest?
And yes, she does look stoned, talk about bedroom eyes! is that what you call it?

NPC SPOILERS...
. . . . . . . BG1 had it out for clerics. There isn't a decent cleric in the game until it's too late to level him up sufficiently. I can't stand Branwen. Forget the dreamy stare--she sounds like she's knocked back one too many Evermeads. Jaheira's support spells are lacking, being a druid and all. (Nothing wrong with that, but most of her nature-related spells are offensive, not defensive.) Yeslick's great. Too bad you're forced to play though half the game to get him. And Tiax? A curiosity for an evil party that left Quayle next to Ajantis in the ankheg hole.
