I didnt know monks could use weapons. I thought they fought with martial arts. Is it better to make your monk fight with a weapon or without a weapon? If they have a weapon can they still do martial arts?

Yeah they can use single handed weapons without shields, but I would use monk with fists only.

I play a monk and find using my fists more effective, then a sword and so you can use the monks cool fighting skills.

a monk can never spend more than one proficiency point on any weapon so he's limited to one attack/round. meanwhile he can attack up to four times with his fists.
you figure it out... |

as far as damage goes, right from the beginning.
I mean, come on people, the monk is SUPPOSED to fight with his fists! and he should always be fighting unarmed, unless the fists can't hit a specific enemy. always! |

what he said... by the time you acquire celestial fury, there should be no need for it.
