Well, i've seen the new american rifle they might be getting and it looks awesome. The Canadian Military probably won't update it's rifle for a while as we haven't had any problems with the C7. One good thing is that scopes have been standard issue. I know the Canadian military is behind, but I have some things I'd like to say. Around the end of WW2 Canada had one of the best navies, too bad we still have most of those ships . We used to have an awesome airborne regiment until it got disbanded because of politics. Our troops are still some of the best trained soldiers in the world and we have some of the best communications equipment. All my grandfathers were in WW2 for Canada and 2 of them died in it. Both my parents were in the Canadian Military and I think I might be joining too. I just wanted to get some knowledge out there. We may not be a large threat with our vehicles, but I can tell you there's a reason America asks us to go to war with them .

Uh-huh. I might as well join in the nationalistic love-fest, and give a to the Hierophant at the same time.
Seriously, though, we do have some good soldiers and good equipment in certain areas. Our gov't has just seen fit to cut operational, equipment, and recruitment budgets. I'm not sure how I feel about that. Some reorganization might be in order. I had a grandfather and two great-uncles who fought for Canada in WWII, and my great-grandfather was wounded (for the second time) at the most hallowed of Canadian victories in WWI - Vimy Ridge. Chris, I hope you never regret your decision if you join, and I also hope that you keep your national pride, sense of perspective, and honour. [ 10-06-2004, 12:23 AM: Message edited by: Aerich ]

I'd say 'don't take any wooden submarines', but I'd smile when I said it. Seriously, you forgot Canada's most unsung accomplishment in the war on terror:
Canada is the only nation in the world in the past 50 years to have successfully fought and defeated a terrorist group based out of an indigenous population: The 'Free Quebec' movement.

"Free Quebec" my ass, they wanted a commie Quebec, not a free one, ever read their manifesto? Also, they would have gotten a free Quebec anyway, in 20 or so years we won't have Quebec. Anyway, when I'm of age I plan on joining. My prayers go out for the family of that poor Sailor killed in the Submarine.

True, but the bombs have stopped. The US can't make that claim. Israel can't make that claim. Nor can Spain, Colombia, Ireland, Russia, the UK, etc.
The bombs have stopped. And it was the Canadians that stopped them.
