DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE MOST RECENT VERSION OF DIRECTX To download the latest version of DirectX, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/dir...ds/default.asp g. SCAN YOUR COMPUTER FOR VIRUSES NOTE: If you already have an antivirus program installed, before you scan your computer for viruses, remember to update your antivirus program with the latest signature files. Most software companies that create antivirus programs release a new signature file each month. After you obtain the latest signature files, scan your computer. For help obtaining the antivirus signature files, contact the antivus software manufacturer. If you do not have antivirus software installed, you may use Symantec's online virus scanning utility: http://www.symantec.com/cgi-bin/securitycheck.cgi If you have cleaned your computer from viruses, remove, and then reinstall the game. Thanks for posting this, jsalsb While it looks like it's for the full game, it should be useful.
Although I'm a little concerned by the "run msconfig, disable everything" step. Seems like they're using a double-barrelled shotgun to kill a snail. And msconfig doesn't exist on all versions of Windows... I think it disappeared in Win2k. Actually, I'm really concerned by that step. Running through the steps they show, I see that they want me to disable my antivirus, my firewall, and a few other less important things. Scotty's gettin' nervous now... Minor edit: Point e, bullet 2, should reference dxdiag, not dxiag. Let's see what else comes up

Games should work with the things that you need to have running on your computer such as antivirus and firewall! Isn't this game supposed to have multiplayer function over the internet? Over the internet with no antivirus and firewall?!?!? |
